I see that NBC will have Leigh Diffey, David Hobbs & Steve Matchett as their F1 announcers in 2013. Could they not find at least one non-accented announcer?

Even NA(p)SCAR coverage has at least one non-southern voice in the booth.
Who would be your F1 announcer "dream team" be?
The bad decisions regarding how US media covers motorsport happens much further up the chain of command than the guy who picks who's going to be in the booth.
TV's got a problem in the US. Nobody running a network cares about the quality of the coverage, they just want ratings. This means the executives want to "dumb it down", in hopes they can get people who don't really care about the subject matter to stick around and watch it anyway, just because of how it's presented. They figure folks who actually care will tune in, regardless of the poor quality, and if they can sucker in any additional audience at all, it's a net gain. Sad thing for me as someone who has spent most of my adult life in the industry is that motor racing coverage kind of invented that (showing the backmarker's pitstop instead of the dice for 3rd place/drivers' wives cheering instead of what's on track/cameras zooming in on a driver's helmet instead of zooming out to see the interval/etc.)
Crazy thing is that it seems to be spreading to other sports..I had a buddy who likes American football go nuts over an NFL game on Fox a few years ago. He didn't get to see the players' formation before the ball was snapped because the TV Director decided to leave that zoomed in camera shot of the quarterback's face for too damn long.
DL;DR: I watch European networks on the internet on purpose because US TV sucks so bad. And I say that as someone who worked in TV.
I agree with your Fried.. I worked in television just long enough to really hate watching it anymore
I for one am very glad to have those 3 instead of just about all the American announcers I've seen on TV calling the races.
They are a proven formula (see what I did there?) and it works. Why mess with it if you don't have to. You already have every automotive enthusiast up in arms so why give them even more to bitch about?
Okay, okay. I'll do it.
And to all my friends, on this eve of giving thanks, I wish for you glad tidings to be borne upon the winds of good fortune. And may those winds continue blow you, as I've been blown lo these many years.

He's supposed to be contracted to Fox/Speed until 2014. Probably going to be doing Barrett Jackson until he sees every Camaro Indy pacecar ever produced.

Since it's a hypothetical question, my Dream-Team would be Murray Walker, Kimi Raikkonen and Jeremy Clarkson.

In reply to grafmiata:
Walker: There's nothing wrong with the car except that it's on fire.
Kimi: I was having a E36 M3.
Clarkson: Powaaaaa!

Walker: He's obviously going in for a wheel change... I say obviously because I can't see it.
Kimi: vvzzvvwvvzz Ooohh champagne!!! Vvvzzwxxxzw.
Clarkson: Powaaaaaa!!!!
Yeah, I'd watch that!!!!
Imagine Kimi having the producer in his ear telling him what to talk about...
"Leave me alone, I know what I'm doing!!!"
I am actually pretty good with the Diffey/Hobbes/Matchett lineup. If Murray Walker were around, He would be king, but I think we are past that.
Murray and the BTCC was fabulous. I think the best thing with him was his ability to get so excited about the racing. He was obviously enjoying the race...

Current plus dale sr's corpse........about the same amount of useful commentary would go on.
Every time I see the title of this thread, all I can think of is this:

and how would one say boogity, boogity, boogity in F1 speak?
... and they'd bring that dang gopher track cam w/ him
Wait a minute, do you want some American that has his head shoved so far up his ass that he doesn't care about any other motorsport other than F1? I see why Varsha was busy.
Im worried about who will be the guy at the track. I liked Will Buxton and the guy before him (can't recall his name) and wouldn't mind seeing either one of them at NBC.
Why not Joe Buck and Chris Collinsworth(less). This is a perfect example of how Fox and NBC don't care about "their" football fans.
