The caption indicates that the ARs have a full auto setting on the fire selection lever. If so, then they were already machine guns, so he has in effect actually destroyed a machine gun by merging two of them into one. :)
That's cool, the gas tube from one goes to the other to cycle the action. It makes sense and all, but it looks cool.

That double 1911 and double-barrel shotguns have 1 trigger for each barrel.
Legally, more than one bullet per trigger pull = machine gun.
