But he doesn't look like a f'n idiot ;)
The chance of one of them shooting a looter is pretty much zero. The chance of one of them shooting another is much higher.
I count at least three guns that appear to be pointed AT someone. Remember kids, don't point a berkeleying gun at anything you don't intend to kill. I've had to tell my neighbor: "I love you man, but if you point that berkeleying thing at me one more time, I'm going to take it out of your hand and ram it up your ass sideways."

I live on the outside of Nashville and I'm a pretty good shot, so don't bet on it.

I'm right there with you, I can't stand it even when a toy gun is pointed at me.
storytime:
In a previous life I worked as an ice cream man for a couple of summers. One day this obnoxious kid was "shooting" me with his toy gun, and after a bit I said "ok kid I get it, now get that thing out of my face". He kept on being a little brat and pointing that thing at me and pretending to shoot, so I refused to sell him ice cream. In his best spoiled brat voice he said "I don't care, I didn't want any ice cream anyway" Then I told him that I didn't mean just today, but he wouldn't be getting any ice cream for the ENTIRE SUMMER. He would still try, but I never forgot, and wouldn't sell the little brat anything. Finally after a couple of weeks his Mom approached the truck berating me for refusing to serve him. I told Mom that her kid was a brat, and he should be more respectful to his elders. I also told her that if he behaved I'd agree to sell him some overpriced ice cream. For the rest of the summer he would come up to the truck with his tail between his legs.
lesson: Don't berkeley with the ice cream man!

I thought alcohol was ncessecary for most things?
I live in Western Tn. and it flooded here as well. I believe one reason you didn't see / hear anything about looting was because folks got together right away and helped each other out when it came to looking after each other's property. That's not to say there wasn't any looting, it's just that it was small scale and was stopped quickly.
Hmm shotguns and pistols; I would have thought Tennessee was better equipped. Pretty much everyone I know has atleast one carbine or battle rifle. Two is one and one is none. They get lonely...
