How about SpaceX launch. We have too many trees here at the house to really get a good view, but down the street there's a park that offers a pretty good view. With the naked eye we could track it all the way from liftoff to stage separation to landing boosters. And then, about 6 minutes after takeoff, we heard it.

When I lived near GRM I saw several shuttle launches from the park. The sound 6 minutes later is still loud!
I was trying to imagine any (good) reason I’d be standing in a parking lot at 2:49am, but you got me with this one David - I’d totally have been out there too.

My first thought was unveiling a modified Delorian.
I was expecting high school aged type recreational cannabis use.
Okay, fine, score one more for living in Florida. 
But seriously, that's really cool.
I was gonna go with "car-jacked outside of a bar in the bad part of town," but this was almost certainly more fun.
