Searching for your truck on Ebay (several ways the past couple days since you started this thread) only turned up a 12,000 mile 97 F700 truck in Chicago. You might want to review your title and listing so the search functions point more people to the listing. Post a link to it here so the experienced Ebay / automotive seller critics can look at the listing and make suggestions. If it's against forum policy PM me a link and I'll look. I'm on Ebay all day, powerseller yadda yadda.

Somethings not right because using keywords you mentioned in your first and recent post in both the regular and advanced searches haven't given me your listing.

There is only ever 1 reason why something doesn't sell, and that's price.

I'll call bull E36 M3 here. You could price a car at a hundred bucks when scrap value $500, and people will still kick the berkeleying tires "I need to see if I can borrow my buddy's truck to pick it up. Will you throw in those $1,000 wheels & tires? Can you hang on to it for me? I get paid in two weeks. Let's talk about NASCAR for three hours, then I can tell you I didn't bring any cash."

The world is full of inefficient time murderers. If you want to sell something, it's best to immediately identify these people and weed them out. Example: I've driven all over berkeleying creation to "meet" some idiot who wants to "look" at a car. Never again. If they want it, they'll come get it. If I post something on craigslist, I'll respond to an email with my phone #. It's crazy how many 1,000 question-asking, "I've got nothing better to do than ask you questions about a car I have no intention of buying" mother berkeleyers you can weed out this way. When someone does call, and is interested in coming to take a look at the car, I'll politely say "...and that price is cash price. Please don't waste my time if you don't plan on bringing money with you."

And Iggy has it right; don't list a car's problems unless they're severe (assuming we're talking craigslist, and not a GRM-type crowd.) People WANT to get excited about buying something. Let them. If they ask questions on the phone, answer them honestly. Otherwise, let them figure out the vc gasket leaks and there's a coffee stain on the back seat.

I can't post a link since its against forum rules, but go to Ebay motors, under "other vehicles" click on "commercial trucks." then search for F80. Two come up, mine is the second one.... but it expires today. You will have to search completed listings in about an hour.

So, when 2005-2007 models with 200k on them are selling like hotcakes for $25,000, how is mine with less than half the mileage only worth $3000?

I googled the specs and found one of your ads on another forum that had that pic.

I'm curious, though... why did you buy a truck like that to move from CA to TX? Or did you have some other use for it planned that didn't work out?

Long story. My wife and I go to Canada for the summers. We left LA in June and didn't have any thing lined up in Austin until September. Then once we got here, we weren't sure how long we were going to stay. Our choices were:

1) rent a truck one-way for two weeks ($2000) and then be forced to find an apartment, unload, and surrender the truck. Then we'd be paying rent on a place for two months as well.
2) rent a storage unit in Austin and unload all the stuff, surrender the truck and pay rent on a storage place for two months and have to do a move all over again when we got back.

Instead, we bought the truck with the idea that we could lose $2000 when we sold it and still be way ahead of the game. The way it worked out was perfect. We parked it in a buddy's back yard in Austin and took off to Canada. When we came back to Austin, we stayed at a Motel 6 for a couple weeks while we found an apartment. Once we found an apartment, the truck was used as storage for the extra junk. Now that we have a "permanent" residence and enough room for all of our junk, the truck is empty and ready to sell.

I haven't crunched all the numbers of how much money it has saved us, but its significant.

Ok... so we must have made some moving energy 'cuz I have a guy who wants to buy it. He's in Illinois and we're going to meet in Little Rock to exchange this weekend.

Yeehaw.

Anybody have a motorcycle I can borrow so I have a ride home?

Curtis I am really surprised people aren't knocking your door down for that at the price.

That's great news.

We've had people put cars in the back, and use a loading dock to drive out and be on their merry way.

Buy one in Little Rock & sell it when you get back? (You would be my personal hero if you did, btw.)

We used to load/unload them with a roll back all the time. If you show up at a towing company while a couple guys are standing around you can get it done cheap and quick usually.

It has officially sold for $9000. Its gone. Ahhhh. Last night I got home from Little Rock, cracked a beer, and watched a few episodes of Doctor Who.

My buddy ended up following me up to Little Rock in my wife's Scion instead of loading it in the back. The extra 13 gallons of gas was worth it to avoid the extra headache. I expected 28 mpg, but got 32.

A nice guy in Illinois bought it, and he owns several other box trucks. He seemed happy with it and didn't even test drive it before he handed over $9000. It made me feel a little better that someone who knew a lot about these trucks was able to see that it was a good deal. I was starting to doubt myself.

Thanks guys for the sanity check

Glad to see that you sold your truck.

Although I still believe that price is king, I went against what I would normally do (because of this thread) re-listing my pit bike for sale.

Originally I went after the biggest audience, listing in the city, about 30 minutes away. After 2 weeks I went down 15%. Lots of action, but no sale.

This morning (1 month) I re-listed locally at full price

It was gone at supper time.

People are difficult to predict.
