$750, how bad could it be?
Offer $500 and give it a try. For that price you can always take a few parts off to sell and scrap the rest and get your money back it things go all pear shaped. DO IT!
I don't think that is an R. It just has the wheels. It doesn't have the lower chin spoiler or the black interior. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volvo_850#T-5R

Because of the no start? Sounds like the seller just wants it gone.
And as mentioned - not an R (but not advertised as one, either) - just a std run-of-the-mill 850 Turbo. ...with 268K miles...
Probably about as bad as the nearly identical one I sold for $900. I had the same no start problem and chased it for almost a year. Hint: it wasn't the crank sensor, cam sensor, coil, ecu, or any of the other things I tried. Berkley that car!
it's been hit.. look at the seam between the front fender and the door. No start could be the cambelt has jumped a couple of teeth too
Other wise.. that car and the manual transmission from my 850...
If you're willing to come east a little ways, I know where there's a pretty nice little V70GLT (little turbo) that needs a few bent valves replaced.
