Seeing the thread on the charging station got me thing of running out of power,

So are there EV charging tow trucks yet or is that even possible ?

How do you remotely charge an 800v Porsche EV battery ?

is it even possible to bring you 10 miles of EV power to get you to the next charging station ?

I assume AAA will  set this up , or maybe just have to tow everyone to the nearest charging station ,

Ideas ?

Hitch towed diesel generator.  Pull into drop-off point, technician runs out and unhooks it, slaps the roof of your car and you just drive off.  He then tops the fluids, preps it, and loads it on the next mobile-charging truck.

All of them guaranteed to be 10 miles away from a supercharger station, or have one on the premises.

To cut down on issues, the one on the premises is limited to a 1/4 charge so that people can't stay there and fully top off while others are waiting.

Man, I'm on fire with the bullE36 M3 today.

What if Department of Transportation developed a roadway similar to slot track....??

No more toll booths! Just stay in the charge lane and a remote will read your charge panel and send a bill to your phone.

"and now...the rest of the story."

You don't need to bring a 'charger'.  Flat tow an EV and the motor will regen & charge it.

Seems to me it would be easier to just take the EV to a charger. We have that technology widely deployed today. No tow truck driver wants to hang around waiting for your car to charge up.

IIRC AAA actually built a few of these a few years back, then took them out of operation due to a lack of use. It's reallllllly hard to run out of juice in a modern EV.

Yup, much faster to tow you to a charger and then he can go off and get paid for another job.

Yeah, but where's the fun in that?

I think they should look into RF power. Pop up an antenna on your car. If you're really running low they can send a lighting bolt your way.  ;^)

Maybe you've stumbled on the real reason they're called Teslas...
