After a recent eye exam I need a new prescription. I prefer larger round/ oval lenses for bifocals and peripheral vision especially while driving. The (mostly rectangular) frame selection at this office had nothing I wanted but the eye guy suggested I shop around at other offices, Sears and even Wal-Mart. WM?... I said. He replied that they can have some good stuff but be selective.

After some shopping around I found frames at WM almost identically sized and shaped to my old pair... which were great. Don't remember the name but they are non-designer brand, have hinge springs and appear well made and durable. Priced at buck n a half I thought these would run at least another hundred+ at any doc's office... but they come w/ magnetic attach sun lenses... so now I'm impressed but leery of the WM look good but cheap effect.

Google reviews mostly complain about bad lenses being made there but not frame quality. I'd most likely buy the frames and have the lenses made by my own doc's office.

Anybody have any experiences and opinions w/ WM frames?

TIA

If you are a responsible adult that takes care of his/her stuff, you could have a frame made of duct tape and it would do the job. Good quality glasses are ALL in the lenses. So I wouldn't mind a WM frame, but I definitely wouldn't want WM lenses. YMMV.

My wife used to have WM frames and lenses. They looked good, but I think they only lasted a year or so. We're now buying most of our glasses at Costco and are pretty happy with the quality and service - the lenses on one of my wife's pairs of glasses scratched up somewhat and they happily replaced the lenses for free.

I have two different glasses from WM, first set fit well and lasted over five years the current pair are about two years old and are "OK" the fit could be better. Overall not bad for the money. Have you been to vision works? Nice stuff at OK prices.
