RALEIGH, N.C.
North Carolina lawmakers are moving closer to a change in state law that could send women to prison for going topless in public.
A bill (H34) headed to a vote in the North Carolina House would insert language into the state's indecent exposure law to expand the definition of private parts to explicitly include female nipples. Depending on the situation, such exposure could be prosecuted as a misdemeanor or as a Class H felony, punishable by up to 6 months in prison for first-time offenders.
Davidson County Republican and co-sponsor Rep. Rayne Brown told members of the House Judiciary Committee on Wednesday that her constituents were concerned after topless rallies promoting women's equity were held the last two years in Asheville. The bill leaves in place an exception for breastfeeding mothers.

But do they still drink free?
Some people just want to see the world burn.
wait... Boobs = equity? My wife is sitting on a gold mine!
I will never understand why women's nipples are the one part we can't be allowed to see... guys have that part. it is the REST they don't have.
Lemme guess, this was introduced by some politicians that are outspokenly anti-gay-marriage right? ![](/media/img/icons/smilies/crazy-18.png)

Proof
And man she must be built funny.
We had that problem in Ohio some years back (used to live there)
The thing most people fail to understand is that the taa-taa's your seeing are NOT ones you wanna see...
Think about it...
Think the most butch-manly looking lady you ever thought of going topless in public...

So much for the 8th amendment I guess. Because 6 months in jail for showing too much skin isn't excessive at all.

No worse than the wooly mamoth dudes that walk around with no shirts.
Still doens't justify 6 months in jail.
America is so ridiculous when it comes to nudity.
Prosecuting for boob display is udderly ridiculous.
Woman can go topless here. This is one of the few things about NY that isn't tits up.

I would rather see a butch/manly woman topless (or even tanktopped) than some of the wooly guys around here.. I worked with a guy who's father body hair was thick and strong, it would hold a tee-shirt away from his body.
Made me very happy to be mostly free of bodyhair
The day boobs are outlawed, only outlaws will have boobs.
But moobs are still legal right?
They should outlaw Moobs before boobs

SIX MONTHS for first-time offenders?!?!?
NC must have a privatized prison system now.

Exactly what I was thinking. Silence political dissidents, pad the pockets of your constituents.

Besides, if mammary serves, the incarceration period should be proportional to the offense.

no ... it's in reaction to a parade/rally .. whatever .. here in Asheville each yr, held in one of the downtown squares ... with all the sightseers/voyeurs, it's pretty disruptive to downtown, plus creating huge protests from the combination of those too squeamish about having their children see some boobies and the bible thumpers ( they don't seem to remember the admonition to "judge not lest ye be judged" )
This is all my fault, I've been on a streaking streak.![](/media/img/icons/smilies/evil-18.png)
