RIP Dr. Ralph Stanley. We're really getting down to the last of the original Bluegrass players. The Osbourne Brothers and Jesse McReynolds are about the only ones left.

I'm going to see the remaining Highwaymen play a concert tomorrow night, and I'm thankful for that--they're getting up there in years themselves.
And Sonny can't play anymore.

Been listening to bluegrass all day in Mr. Stanley's honor. At 89 he had a pretty good run, though.

He played a show at the local community college within the past year and I was bummed that I couldn't make it. RIP Ralph.
Glad I got to see him perform many times. Maybe he'll do a song for wbjones up there.

Now I really am sad. I hope our jam tonight has a good bluegrass turnout. I'm more of a folk guy myself but will lead the grass if necessary. Sadly our most prominent bluegrass member passed away earlier this year as well.
I grew up going to bluegrass festivals. Dad bought an old bread truck and converted it into a RV. When school was out we would tour around going to all the bluegrass festivals we could. I was just a baby when they started going. I miss those times. I miss the music.
Here's little Maggie.
