This morning, a co-worker and I had to shovel 2500 lbs. of rotting, used grain (mostly barley) out of a dumpster into another dumpster.
At 8 AM.
In the sun.
With snow shovels.
Whilst standing in said rotting grain and the accompanying rotting grain juices.
We both have four-year degrees.
The dumpster was overweight, and therefore the truck was overweight, and there's a weigh station three miles down the road, so the driver was nervous.
This has been a rant. Those responsible for the rant have been sacked.
I love my local Brewery (Founders) and would gladly do that everyday.

Strange what we'll do for love, eh?
First day of work in a kitchen after I started culinary school, I was outside hand-scrubbing the kitchen's trashcans, in the middle of a St. Louis summer, on the asphalt, in the afternoon. As I pulled my head out of about the fourth trashcan, I said quietly to myself, 'stay in school, kids.'
And you guys think we play with cars all day....

Shovel car parts? Dude. that's eBay fodder. Actually, I make sure that all of our advertisers are happy, manage the salesmen and occasionally do some writing. The wrenching is mostly on my own time—although I'm under a big push to get the Berkeley painted and put back together for our open house.

Mmmmh...concrete patios come to mind.
After I dropped out of Penn State way back in the day, I spent the next four months as a plumber's apprentice. One cold drizzling February morning I found myself up to my armpits digging a ditch and thought to myself there's got to be something better than this. So I joined the Army. Four months later I found myself again, standing in the rain up to my armpits in mud digging a foxhole.
Yeah - stay in school kids...
On a separate note - the guy's at Troeg's are awesome - I've been on the tour twice and one time showed up late and got a private tour with just me and my brother in law. Needless to say, all I buy is delicious Hop-Back Amber.

Honestly, what I do is probably part diplomat, part chef, and part social worker. I don't do much with concrete, however.

I've found some pretty foul stuff in parts cars over the years.
The blood and hair in the busted-from-the-inside-out windshield was a good one.
Dead cat in the trunk.
EMPTY tube of KY jelly under the back seat of my '79 IHC Scout and I know I didn't put it there.

I once bought a VW Thing. which had no top, which had been parked behind an adult book store for 10 years. The things found in that car still give me nightmares.
Nowhere near the horror of cleaning out that Thing, but I spent six hours yesterday chasing a tiny little javascript bug that made Safari 4 act flaky. I'd take shoveling crap over that any day.

Free samples for GRMers?
If you have never been you should go. They have free samples of all the beers (1oz samples) but they are free...not like Hopcat 1.50 Each sample.

However, when diplomacy fails....we all know who you have to answer to....

Last time I went to founders, is when they were in the brassworks building :(

Excellent! And your story really made me laugh, by the way. I got the image of Forrest Gump wading through the water saying "Sometimes the rain came up from underneath!"
It is ridiculous what I'll do to work at a brewery. But it was all better when 4:30 rolled around and I went and poured myself a beer right off of a just-filled keg. Mmmm.
Troegs is one of the best! I used to go there with a friend of mine all the time when I was in college... He used to pick up supplies there and at Appalachian Brew co. in Harrisburg. Was always fun to run errands with him.
I've done sewer pipes on the fly. Just sayin'.
