Since my wife is recovering from some medical stuff I'm working at home for a few days. Some observations:
Our dogs sleep. A lot.
The guy who sprays our lawn is nice.
Devo sounds just as good here as it does at the office.

Fixed it. I worked at home for 14 years.......
I've been working from home since January and am finding that I quite enjoy it. Considering how my commute used to be 50 miles each way through Atlanta traffic, it's quite the improvement.
On the downside, if the office microwave is a mess I'm the only one to blame.
Don't let your employers know that you're posting to a sports car forum when you're supposed to be working.
Hope she makes a speedy recovery.

My dog sleeps a lot too... that is except when I get on an important business call, and then she barks non-stop.

Totally. Although now, ironically, I'm at the office--like the one that houses the magazine staff.
At first it's all very bohemian and creative and E36 M3, this working from home gig. It's flexible, no more stupid people gossip, and you can have a cat. By the second year, it becomes easier to turn the alarm off and roll over when you just can't be arsed to get out of bed. I'm on year 5. I had a meeting with the bosses in the big city today, it's the only reason I had pants on by noon.
In reply to Lesley:
And here I am limiting myself to "pants free Wednesday"...you've opened up a whole new realm of possibilities for me!
By the way, I don't work from home.
I'm considering not applying for the next promotion just so i can work from home and not have to smell my coworkers.
I'd love to work from home. I'd even come in a few days a week, but I suspect I could more done from home in a 1/2 day than in a full day here, since I wouldn't have all the distractions.
It is nice that in working from home I can pretty much set my own schedule. I had some flexibility when I was in the office, but this is even better. Essentially, as long as I get my work done, I can plan it how I want. Since I work with lawyers and businesses all day, a lot of it is during core business hours. But I like to do the early shift. I get started by 7:30 or so and often can wrap it up around 3:30pm. I also try to set my workload so that Fridays are less busy. Going to spend my "lunch" with my kids at school today.
95% of my position could be done from home, but I don't think that I'd want to be out of the office for more then 2-3 days a week. the normally of a scheduled commute and office keeps me focused and on time. Wednesdays and Fridays I could manage without commute though.
Did it for 3 years, hated it. Only kept at it because I could put my daughter on the bus and get her off the bus. When she was tool old for that, I got another job.
I wound up working at Panera for 4-6 hours a day just to have people to look at.
I enjoy working at home, I have much less interruption, much more productivity, and the ability to take a care of a few odds & ends during the day. I put in way too much time though, I still get up/ready at the same time - and I already arrive at work an hour early, but stopping in the evening isn't a problem since once everyone walks in the door chaos ensues.
I commute about 1.5 hours each way every day. The people I deal with almost exclusively live in other cities. There is no reason I couldn't work at home, except my boss goes to the office every day. He lives about 3 miles away from me, so he is doing the same commute. This is stupid.
Whenever he is on vacation or traveling I stay at home and work. I stayed home this past Friday, did more work than I usually am able to accomplish spending 3 hours in the car, AND I timed the cam on my latest motor rebuild.
