Anyone see it this weekend? It was basically how I thought it would be, which is, not that great. Seemed to be a million small plot holes. But, at the end of the day, it's a zombie movie, not some award-nominated film.
On a side note, Paramount is exploring a sequel.
has zombies jumped the shark yet?
Meh, if it hasn't over the course of 50 years, it's not going to. People seem to love the genre, especially with the traction it got with Walking Dead (which is worlds better than World War Z).
The book is quite good. The movie has nothing to do with the book.

Read the book. Loved the book. I will watch the movie but I am expecting it to be nothing like the book.
I actually just ordered the book today to check it out. But yes, friends who have read the book say it lacks a LOT.
But Brad Pitt is in it...
And supposedly Matthew Fox was too. And then completely cut out of it except for 45 seconds where he appears as a helicopter pilot? So strange. Not sure what happened there.

Zombie sharks. Just what we needed.
"We're gonna need a bigger crossbow."
I wasn't impressed. Kudos to Pitt for getting it made but it didn't break any new ground or do anything dramatically that (at least I'm aware of) hadn't been done before.

I've read the book, & the Survival Guide, and lamented the upcoming movie in another thread. I'm prepared to be disappointed.
However, I saw a few friends over the weekend apparently saw it and liked it. (Except one who must have gone to it at random, and bitched that it was a zombie movie and she hates zombie movies. WTF??)

more than likely saw it had Brad Pitt in it and went to see it because of that.

Yes! Enough with the freakin zombies already, and how about an original goddamn idea for once.

There was some re-writing and re-shooting. I think they changed the ending and removed most of his scenes. There is likely some "original ending" info out there somewhere.
Some info here:

They are lining up the ramp and checking for wind.
At least the vampire thing has died down a bit (but not totally gone)
Really liked the book, no plans to see the movie. Previews were enough to tell me the book was better.

I figure I can't really complain about the movie until I see it for myself. ...then all bets are off.

This, it's a damned Zombie movie guys, who expected it to be serious.
I've read the book and I saw the movie. Neither was the most amazing thing in the world. Having said that, I enjoyed both. Small spoiler alert -- I like my Zombies kind of slow and predictable . . .
