Seriously, even then how much shnapps did they have to ply those guys with to be stupid enough to do that, behind bikes is one thing, but behind a car with another car following with approx. zero chance of missing you!! And we though 'Hay y'all watch' this originated here!
Yeah, I don't see anything going wrong there. Now that I think about that, we used to do that as kids in those plastic sleds. Man that was fun! The only problem was, if the car/truck has to break you were eating chrome bumper....NOW.

I can see your level of mild stupidity, but it's the high speeds, with the rope wrapped around and around your wristh waiting to rip your hand off as the tow car goes forward and you get caught up being run over by the car behind!!!
I thought the worlds most dangerous sport in 1955 was sports car racing at le mans........or are we forgetting the tragedy that unfolded there.

I have dragged upwards of 3 truck inner tubes behind my car while doing donoughts in a parking lot. When a person being dragged lets go they can get some big air off of a snow bank.
