My list of uninspiring cars:
'97 - '03 fwd Chevy Malibu
Any Ford Tempo
Plymouth Breeze
my V6 5 speed tempo was a ton of fun, great honda hunter, nothing beats the shame of losing a race to a rusted out tempo with a leaking exhaust.
As for american 4cyl FWD, I'm pretty fond of twincam saturns, they even made grm's list of top ten values or whatever it was.
I don't really think there is any un GRM car, it seems to me most GRM guys see starting with the worst possible platform as a challenge rather than a handicap.
Le Baron, Id sport pretty much anything but that little nugget of turdiness
...oh and BTW, FWD 4 banger haters are on the wrong forum... Im just sayin
Jeeeeesh
Generally speaking, if it powers the wheels that steer and isn't a forklift or an original mini I don't want any part of it. Exceptions have been made but I have almost always regretted them.
I guess maybe I just need to commit to a mid-engined conversion before I buy a POS front driver again.
So far the only multiple winner here seems to be the Tempo/Topaz.
With which I concur :)
I want to take one on BABE so just once I dont feel compelled to drive the car home again.
Actually we've discussed an informal spec Tempo class for BABE for awhile, still haven't got the organizers to buy off on it though. Ending of course with a huge Tempo bonfire in New Orleans.
Here is a Ford Tempo in the movie roll it was made for:
The Movie "Fargo"
The movie also "stared" another crap-tacular car...
I think this one had $100 knocked off the Truecoat.

Excel's yes.... but the first Gen Elantra's were almost identical underneath to the early EVO's, and there are more than a few AWD 4G63T swapped versions out there.... I woudl consider that a GRM car.
My vote has to be the auto Tempo/topaz as well. Had a 5spd 84 carb'd tempo that was ok... at least you could row your own gears and make it seem like you were doing something, and almost let you overlook the 175/80R13 tires that chewed themselves to oblivion in 15k miles and the horrible suspension that needed new struts every 30k..... but the auto was so anemic, so underpowered and so god-awful terrible it wasn't funny.
Anything from Daewoo. At all.
All the uninspired '80s American E36 M3boxes. You know the ones I mean. Well maybe I'd like a few to hold a private demolition derby with, but that's it.
Newer Hyundais are pretty reliable, but apart from the Genesis, they are as lifelessly boring as the uninspired '80s American E36 M3boxes.
Pretty much anything from Kia, as they are a lot like Hyundai but without even a single interesting car.

+1
I was gonna list 'em but I decided to do only the top 4.

So is that you in the avatar, then?

I don't think anyone is denouncing 4 cylinders in general, just spectacularly bad ones, or cars that make the engine too anemic.
Ford Edge. Uglier than an Aztek, IMO. The interior is nice enough, but I just can't get over the exterior.
Dodge Stratus/Plymouth Breeze/Chrysler Cirrus - One of the worst cars I've ever gotten to drive more than once... It was like our Caravans without an ounce of utility or comfort.
Most anything automatic and AWD. Most anything automatic without a metric asston of power.
plymouth reliant with the auto trans.
My brother revved it to banging off the revcut (no tach so who knows what that was) and forced the column shifter into D.
No smoke. No squeal. No chirp. No spin.
NOT EVEN ON GRAVEL.
This was a car that just DARED you to try and drive it fast. "Sure. Push the accelerator harder. Like THATS gonna make a difference. Bitch."

I think it's just you.

I'm married. I surrendered them puppies years ago, so that's not something I worry about anymore. Speaking of... it's almost that time of year I can see them again. Need to check with the wife to make sure though.

4 cylinders should have two overhead cams and a 5 speed attached.

And less than 2000lbs of weight attached to them.

God I hope that makes the mag.
Any 'domestic' fwd. Any 'domestic' with a naturally aspirated v6 or i4.
What was that 4-cylinder that Chrysler put in K-cars? Yeah, that thing sucked. Worst engineering EVER. Oh, yeah timing belt, only have to remove EVERY ACCESSORY AND BRACKET. Maybe I'm over reacting, but I worked at a shop and had 2 come on for T-belts, and one for a head gasket & t-belt in one week. I was ready to start stabbing people.
