What's the most painful thing you've done on purpose?
Big belly flop? Slap challenge? Hot potato? Crunch a beer can on your dome?

I have a new one today. I ate a Trinidad Scorpion pepper. I like hot, but I've never experienced anything like that. I can't say I'd recommend it.

Let's hear your tales of bad decisions and regret.

I got $50 in a bar once to take a hit from a self defense stun gun.  It was worth it and I think they decided they needed to step up their game.

I won a TV like 15 years ago in a hot pepper eating contest, probably somewhere around 20 habaneros. Have grown and eaten ghosts, scorpion, reapers, etc. Eating isn't the worst, hootus or eyes wins that battle

It wasn't painful at the time but I asked if I could get an epidural instead of general anesthesia so I could watch them do surgery on my knee.

Twice.

I like to grow Carolina Reaper peppers. Yep they are hot and I am a slow learner. Don't pee after making hot sauce.

Restoring Healeys is more painful.

My father worked in the prison system, and back in the seventies, he managed to get his hands on some actual prison-grade tear gas.

Fast forward a bunch of years and my cousin and I found it and asked  him if we could try it to see what it was like. He gave us the green light, so we closed the garage doors and fired it off into the door. We expected it to spray out in a fog, but it turns out that it actually fired out a little plastic shell with the charge of a .22 cartridge. It hit the door pretty hard. We saw and felt nothing at first, so we walked into it.

We fell to the floor immediately. We expected tears, but it was way more than that. Our eyes became useless, and we spent the next 18 hours coughing, sneezing and vomiting. I didn't expect the sneezing and vomiting. It was pretty harsh. Not a great weekend.

I think I still have one pellet left.

I prefer tear gas to pepper spray, and I may prefer both of those to swimming in cold water. I loathe a cold water swim.

I've tried pepper spray too and it was nothing compared to this.

Childbirth. Twice. Like all great self-inflicted injuries, this comes with a sincere regret for the choices that have led you to this juncture, along with a readiness to bargain with whatever devil you can find to make it better. Most of all, though, there is an intense desire to find some other chump to inhabit your body because it's taking a trip you do not want to be there for.

I love the WWII guys - (assuming he was one).

You guys want to try out the tear gas?

Okay, go ahead he says as he's going back inside the house smoking an unfiltered Camel cigarette.

Let the local wear off after ACL replacement. Not really on purpose, just forgot to stay on top of the meds.

White hot pain. That's my 10 on the scale. I never, ever want to go there again.

Was told that I didn't need bee gloves to inspect my hives since they make you clumsy and you crush more bees by accident.

No problems all summer, get to fall when the bees are rather spicy because they would like to keep their honey.

5 stings on one hand. Hurt like hell and swelled up so bad that I couldn't write with it.

The itching for the next 4 days was worse. I wanted to gnaw my own hand off.

I have bee gloves now.

That's a clever way to make bee stings intentional. Nice.

Paid a piercer to do my nipples.   Mother of god that hurt!  And they never healed so it was for nothing when I had to take them out 18 months later.

I did the gas chamber in basic training: mildly unpleasant.

Dave's Insanity Sauce in my eye:  happened by accident but violently unpleasant and led to 15 minutes at the work eyewash station.

tonsillectomy as an adult. After the third day I wanted to go back to the hospital because I thought there was no way they would send someone home in this much pain, there had to be something wrong... There wasn't. At the 2 week follow up the doctor walked in and said "are we still friends?" He warned me that it was gonna suck

Compound fractured (Ooo, bone, neat.) my right ring finger in 2020. Tucked everything back in and duct taped it. It was a very painful 1.5 years until it "fully" healed.

Post-concussion syndrome after a motorcycle at a track day at Hallett. Came off the bike around 65mph or so. The concussion itself didn't really hurt that, bad the PCS was HORRIBLE. I would randomly get migraines so bad I was curled up on the floor in the fetal position bawling my eyes out. At one point I was on 3000mg of Ibuprofen per day and then they gave me Amitriptyline when one would strike. Which worked, but they would knock me out for 12-15 hours straight, literally, every time I took one.

Also got a tattoo in NYC when I visited after college back in 2006. I was leaving the next day so I couldn't tap out......just over 7 hours straight. My leg was so swollen and sore the next day I could barely walk.
