Well I love my RX8 and am in no rush to push it out of bed yet, the problem is the German temptress known as the BMW 1 series is and has been harassing me hard lately.
So if I were to plan on moving on to a 128i or a 135i from the RX8 would I be happy?
Would parts cost cause me to run at full speed away with the n54 135i?
Could I be happy with the 128i and its open diff and blank canvas of a chassis?
So being as I still autocross fairly heavily and a few time trials a year but its mostly a weekend nice day car to drive around.
So GRM what say you?
The grass is always greener...

So as the proud and frustrated owner of an N54 335I I can offer some tidbits. Mine has 80k on an 08 and was dealer maintained till I bought it. It is without a doubt a great car to drive but a tough one to keep happy for any time frame. I hear the n52 is a bit less bothersome but can't say more than that. Check out e90post.com for some more info.
The good
-most balanced and best handling stock vehicle I've ever had
-fast stock and really wild with a jb4 tune
-classy with a really comfy interior
The bad
-watch your maintnance like a hawk
-major recalls on the whole fuel system
-plan for a 750 waterpump/thermostat
-plan for a serp belt/pulley
-plan for front and rear subframe bushings and motor mounts
-plan to reseal most of the engine (did 4 diff seals on mine thus far)
-other gremlins like fuel evap system also abound
Had I known then what I know now I would have bought the used jag xjr...
