I have been thinking about advertising in the magazine for some time and finally called Joe Gearin to get details. Costs are quite fair, they will give discounts if you are active on the forum, and they are very helpful. The ad designer, Kieth Keplinger, got me a BEAUTIFUL proof in two days! Ad will go into the Sept issue of Classic Motorsports, and we will place in GRM after that. So, if any of you have a business that can use quality advertising, I suggest making that call. Good people to deal with, professional, affordable.

I've never dealt with the ad department (my business wouldn't benefit) but I would assure you they are great to deal with. Every person and every instance I've dealt with anyone from the mag has left me impressed.

Which is why they are one of the few magazines to grow in size/content and overall epicness in recent years. Thumbsup!
Awww...thanks for the endorsement.
Not to mention the handsome silver tongued devil that sometimes answers the phone...
What is this GRM you speak of?
Silver tongue? Sounds kinky.

"Not to mention the beautiful silver tongued devil that sometimes answers the phone"... You mean Margie, right?
Keith is a cool guy. Glad to see that his ad is to your liking. His work is usually well above par.

I have zero experience with real advertising, so, as a NOOB, i really appreciate the help. It looks like the ad placement will be optimal, as well.

Spill the beans. What is the ad for? Did you make a thread on the advertiser's playground yet?
Step 1 - develop product/service of interest to the GRM crowd
Step 2 - advertise with GRM to reach GRM crowd
Sadly, I'm stuck on step 1.

In reply to T.J.:
I guess I can say it now. Most of you know I deal with CCTV systems. Up until the first of the year, we targeted only the Caribbean Islands. Unfortunately the world recession finally got there, so it was time to do a different kind of marketing. We started a new website and are working with GRM for ads, as well as developing e-mail strategies. Good, solid performing stuff, at decent pricing. Remote viewing from anywhere. We will just have to play the hand and see how it plays out. Not trying to get rich, just a little extra. Rich would be OK, though.
Yes, thanks for the nice words. We have a great crew.
I got my first magazine recently and one of the things that struck me was that I actually looked at the ads. Imagine that!

Yeah, it's miles away from most car mags. Lot's of car content vs ads. Of course I'm glad to here somebody say that!
It helps that the content ensures that the adds are relative to the readers needs. Although the magazine may not sell as well as Time, I'm pretty sure most our needs are similar. Or hope so...
Hey CWH,
I'll be keeping an eye out for that ad. I might have a need for something like that a little later this year. And if things go right, maybe I'll see about a GRM/CM ad too...

I actually love the ads in car mags. But the things advertised in GRM I tend to wish I could buy... At least 2 of everything, then buy the cars to put it in.

I was just thinking- Have you ever heard ANYTHING positive about any car mag's advertising? Didn't think so.
I like the fact that GRM tends to place adverts within and around articles that would be related in content. How simple is that to do and yet I can't recall even Model Railroader doing that.

My first ad will be in Classic Motorsports in the Sept issue. In the same issue will be an article on building the perfect garage. It is a good tie in. This was the suggestion of Joe, and dovetails my needs nicely with the mag content. He was looking out for the noobie. Same issue will have 10,000 magazines gifted at Monterey. I feel like Christmas came early!!
Glad to hear! It's nice to read a car magazine where the ads and their placement are relevant to the readers, unlike the buff mags full of male enhancement product adverting (well, maybe they DO know their audience).

Not very easy, or else everyone else would do it. That is VERY appreciated, though.....I tend to tear out and file articles that interest me before pitching the rest of the magazine in the trash. I LOVE that the related vendors tend to be on the same pages as the article. I never have to say, "OK, that's a nice idea....I wonder which vendors to look at to see how much that would cost"
I'm glad they didn't start running the Gravity Defying Shoe ad. They seem to be in a bunch on my other magazines, and I can only think what kind of an idiot would buy a shoe with that logo on it. I don't care if they made me hover instead of walk I could walk around with that. They are worse than the fake Addidas my mom made me wear to school with the fourth stripe. Can you imagine the comments when friends see the Swoosh on your shoe was replaced with a Splooge.

in most car mags, the articles ARE the ads.
can't really comment on GRM, since i haven't seen an issue to flip thru anywhere around here for well over a year.
