That is EXACTLY what I drove for our race car hauler in the late 80's. Fully loaded, and I mean loaded, it was 22,000 pounds. Ex Frito Lay truck, built on a 1 ton GMC pick up chassis.. They only used them for a few years, as they were deadly in snow and ice. I think the owner paid 1500.00 for ours with a blown 350. Dropped a retired race motor in it and got 5MPG. With the trailer off, it was surprisingly quick. Rough ride from the short wheelbase. The drive from Boca to Mosport was an adventure.

I was born in 82. Dad has been a route salesman for Frito for over 30yrs (been a great company to us btw.). He used to take the truck home every night until about 8-9 years ago. Some of my very earliest memories are of "driving the truck".
