Fads and trends. There were lots of kids with my first name in grade school. I know of none being named that now. Yet there are three trevors on this short block... Thankfully my first name is short, 'cause the last name is 10 letters. I have to spell it for everyone, and hope forms have enough room....

What I see is illiterate parents misspelling names. They think they have spelled it legitimately, but instead have spelled it phonetically.

"What shall we name our son so that he does not get the E36 M3 kicked out of him at school?"

I don't get the novelty names. My kids have normal ones.

Anymore a Boy Named Sue seems kinda tame.

You could just buy a baby name book, pick one letter, and make sure all your children's names start with that letter.

My wife has an unusual first name. (Child of the 60's, No I'm not going to tell you what it is) It serves her well, She is in demand in her chosen profession (Nothing to do with poles) and people have found her to hire her based on her first name only. Both my sisters have unusual names also so her name fits right in with my family.

A friend of hers from the first grade was able to find her on facebook based on only the first name. Sometimes a memorable name is an advantage, sometimes not.

When youconsider names for your child stand at the top of the stairs and shout it like you are angry at them, if it doesnt roll off the tounge, reconsider.

My Sister in Law's name is one of the terrible misspellings. Her partents wrote down Angalic when they wanted angelique.

SWMBO works at a a treatment center for "psychiatrically challenged" children and it is a minefield of messed up names. Most are DFP. Who names thier kid lyric?

I knew a couple eho thought they were naming their daughter "Orion". Too bad they spelled it "Aryan" on the birth certificate...

daughter is Camber Elise Thomas (before we could get the elise in the US)... guys tend to snicker at the name and women say how pretty it is... lol

and my son goes by Cooper... poor kid is Mark Robert Cooper Thomas...

i'm a Mark... not the most common name but I had another mark in my class prob 1/2 of my school years

We had a male German exchange student in highschool named Helga .But I can't find anything on the internet about Helga ever being appropriate as a boy's name, so now I'm not sure if we didn't just call him Helga for fun.
