That has been out to the BM a few times now.

When the event made it out to the Black Rock Desert 18 years ago or so lots people involved with robotics with the Seemen, SRL, and engineers working with Craig Beedlove's land speed record, along with many other really talented people went nuts and build all sorts of wild E36 M3. The gearhead component has been getting buried in blinky light rave culture but for awhile there it was the best sort of complete madness and very gearhead centric. Professional pyrotechnics and laser people from Vegas and LA film and entertainment industry's do lots of cool stuff these days, and there are still cool very cool vehicles being made.

I went from 94 to 2005 and again in 2008.
