Man, Savo was nasty. Glad he made it back.
Apparently it was, but he wasn't there--he was on a converted civilian carrier named after that battle. He did the classic skip-out-on-high-school to lie about his age and sign up when he was 17. Aside from the grisly scene that was Pelelieu, he also got to witness the first kamikaze attacks. I'm thinking he grew up fast.
Anyway, yes, WWII museum sounds very cool, and sorry for the thread hijack, Duke.
I worked with a vet of the Korean war. He had the same opinion of MacAthur as noted above. I have a book written by a local vet. He didn't mention names. Just references
