Just discovered my garage walls are insulated and insulated doors. Now I need to run a heater out there.

You know it's August right? I'm pretty sure even outside of Texas it's too hot for heaters in August. I'm putting off finishing my guitar finishing project until the temps cool off in the fall. It's just too hot to work out there.
Good deal on the insulation! It's nice when the P.O. does things right for a change!
My garage was unfinished when I bought my house. I regret not insulating before I hung the drywall and ran more electrical. Luckily I'm in San Diego, so it's not like I'm dealing with extreme temps

Ummm, NEALSMO, I think you are officially disqualified from any climate discussions.
OP - heated garages are bueno but how many hours a week will you spend there? (not taking away from the awesomeness of discovering insulation)

Insulating the garage isn't just for keeping it warm in the winter, it also keeps it cool in the summer!
We did a bunch of remodelling before moving into the new house a couple years ago, and while they were at it I had the contractors do some work on the garage. Drywall, walls and ceiling, add add insulation in both places. HUGE difference in usability in the summer -- on a hot summer day my old garage would be 100F+, my new one stays around 80F.
San Diego is only invited to discussions about earthquakes, floods, landslides and housing prices
My old garage had a wood stove. It was good. My current garage is mostly underground and heated and it's glorious.
my garage is like 1x4 slats with siding screwed too it. Too small for a heater with a car in it anyway so im always jealous of heated garages!
I have unlimited free natural gas at my farm and the garage isn't insulated. There is a gas line that runs out there, but the old heater was removed. I've been meaning to get a new one, but I'm concerned about garage fumes and open flames. Any recommendations on garage-safe/explosion-proof heaters? I thought about scrounging a furnace from a mobile home. I don't think there's an exposed flame or ignitor in those.
Something like this. Hang it and you'll be fine. Cheap big heater

I'm surprised they haven't already.
