Word has gone out that the Lake Lure Damn in North Carolina is 10' above capacity and overtopped the damn. The damn is in danger of imminent failure. Everyone below the damn is being evacuated.

The lake is 720 acres and is 104' deep at its deepest point.

Wow. That would be catastrophic. 😥

Lost power around 10 pm last night. Still out. No damage, just lots of debris down. Our little Honda generator is keeping the fridge running and my wife's Ioniq 6 is keeping the deep freezer freezing!

Yep, it's a beautiful lake and there are a lot of people who live below it.

Disney is one of those things, man. I'm a fan. I know you are. Even if you're not though, it's damned impressive how GOOD they are.

this is about the worst we got in the direct area. Got a notification to my phone that my house was back online- which has to mean I have Internet. Having Internet means I have power. Took a gamble and went back home. Ran into a neighbor and sounds like it's been back for about 20min. About the time I got that notification. Convenient!

Just got word that the family farm down in Hazlehurst, GA got damn near leveled. Pole buildings ripped right out of the ground, sheds flattened, trees down, somehow a building is in the pond, almost the whole pecan orchard got blown down, and worst of all the new chicken houses got hit. Downtown Hazlehurst got blasted too. Insane how much power the storm had that far inland.

Got off easy in our neighborhood in Charlotte.  Lost power a couple of times for a minute it two.  No major tree damage.

At our cabin near Asheville, lost power early this morning, still out. Neighbors there posting lots of trees down, so not sure status there.

We lucked out.  It jogged east of us.  No damage, no loss of power.  Obviously better to be on west side of the eye.

Glad to hear.  Im gettin on the road to check on Dad.  His phone lines go down when a cloud looks at em wrong.   berkeleyin AT&T

Dad is good.  No power, no phones, but no trees fell on him or anything else.  Got the generator running before I left.

Power just looks like a couple poles had their breaker pop, from what he noticed on a drive into town before I got there

My son's outlaws bought a house in St. Pete, anticipating retirement but living in NY part time.  There's 3 ft. of water throughout the home.  A neighbor moved their cars to higher ground (only the frame sees salt water?)   As much as I dislike the politics, practices, taxes and BS of NY .....

Why do northerners give us E36 M3 about living in a hurricane area but then when they move down here they buy houses in the worst areas for flooding?

We just got power back about 30 min ago. Seeing how this is playing out I'm thankful the power was only out for about 24hrs.

We still can't get out on the islands. The county is running buses out there to remove people from select locations in each town and taking them inland. I picked up a friend that walked over the bridge and he said a sheriff deputy told him it might be a couple days before they let us go out there. "Still doing search and rescue"

My friend got a shot of the water line ring before he left.

Boat yard sale. Crazy thing is they all had to come from behind the houses to land in the front yard by the street.

We weren't even in the path here (summerville SC) and still somehow had more yard damage debris, power outages, etc than the storm earlier this year that directly hit charleston.

No big deal really, but I was surprised at the amount of broken trees!

Hey now, not all of us are that dumb. Been through enough hurricanes at this point I think I count as a Florida man and I haven't had any of my E36 M3 flood

Got power back just before sunset. Almost exactly 24 hrs. Seems to be a thing. We had a crew of linemen come through our backyard for a final check before they could "heat us up." Great guys. Two from Tennessee, one from Missouri., two from North Carolina, and two from Florida. Thank you, guys!!

Been out of the loop for a bit (it was my latest turn in the Covid barrel).  Nasty winds today here in central Kentucky (600 miles inland!!!) that around 1 pm took out our power grid.  It's been 10 hours and things are still dark.  My generator has the fridges and the tv running.  Hopefully enough linemen stayed behind here to fix the bluegrass.
