One more reason why I love live music: because stuff like this happens.
Awesome!!! My buddy Greg Haygood handled the lighting for them on their last tour. Highlight of his career.
Not a fan per se, but awesome that you got to meet them like that. Are either of them into cars? You'd suddenly be interesting to them if they were.
It would be nice to see them actually get into the damn RnR Hall of Fame this year. I know they were nominated, but haven't heard an update yet.
Neil Peart is a big BMW motorcycle enthusiast; the book "Ghost Rider" tells of his multi-thousand motorcycle journey that he embarked on after the deaths of his daughter and then wife only a few months apart in 1997/98.
Alex rides Harleys as well, and both are known to take their bikes on tour with them.
Sadly there was no time to chat. It was pretty much like a cattle call--come up, shake hands, pose for the photographer, and then move on. Still, it was cool to meet them, and I have to say that Alex's face totally lit up when everyone clapped upon their arrival. I know they have been doing this for a million years, but he still seemed totally thrilled to meet us. Geddy, well, like I said, I'm told that's his happy face.
That photo was taken about 45 minutes before show time. To be honest, I'm surprised they even took the break to meet us. Forty-five minutes before taking the curtain? Don't they have more important stuff to do?
Killer show, though. They opened with "Subdivisions," so they had me at hello. They started at 7:45 and wrapped up around 11:00. The mid-show break was maybe 15 minutes.
Speaking of motorcycles, I spied several shiny coaches at the venue behind a gated/guarded area. One was towing a matching trailer, and there were several "adventure bikes" parked behind the trailer.

That's Neil's coach with the trailer and bikes. His is the red BMW. Blue one should be the security guy's bike, and the Harley in the trailer is the coach driver's. At least that was the pattern a few tours ago.
We saw them parked outside the Well in Philly a few weeks ago when we went to the show.
Wow.... that is AWESOME!!! You are a very lucky dude.
In somewhat related news, I picked up Hemispheres on vinyl yesterday. I can't wait to spin that later tonight.
