I just got home from work. Here's my to-do list:

-Breakfast

-Vote

-Brakes on the truck

-Snow tires

I am enthused about two of these things.

True...why does that exist in today's closely connected world? I understood when voting wasn't easily accessible (pre 1930s).

I voted last week, absentee. I think it would be nuts to stand in line for this one. We have a bunch of amendments on the ballot in Florida, and people that went to the polls to vote early were taking up to an hour to fill in their ballots. Huge lines.

I hit the polls at 6:20. There were 200+ people in line.

By the time the polls opened, there were better than 500. It took 1.5 hours to make it to the front of the line. Not too bad. SC has a 3 minute rule and our poll managers were sticking to it.

Good, bad, or indifferent , it's done.

Big +1 on the don't, vote don't complain.

Well, to paraphrase George Carlin, if you don't vote, you CAN bitch, because its definitely not your candidate in power.

That being said, I'm leaving work early this afternoon to pick up my wife and elder daughter to vote.

It can be assumed that we are not properly informed enough to make an educated decision. (not saying I believe that.) Our sources of information are entertainment. Very few of us watch C-Span. Fox, CNN, NBC, etc. Their all entertainment giving their view of the days political news. None of them informal enough to get your political news from. Just as accurate news as the daily show.

Do you want those who are properly informed by an unbiased source, or an uninformed public deciding our president.

This is likely the view of those who amend our laws. Not saying it's my view. Who's going to change it?

JUST A few more hours and the silly season can stop. YAY!

For the record, none of the big names got my vote this year. I'm tired of voting for the lesser of two evils.

I've been preaching that heavily for a few months. Good for you, Bob. But if you think the silly season will end at midnight, you're in for a rude surprise.

Very true. Left or right, there are going to be some angry people. I just hope everything stays peaceful. I've got my home protected, although I don't expect anyone to go that far.

I love this country. I love living here, but I see bad things ahead. I voted in many elections, I voted my conscience. I voted for those who claimed to have the nards to make the tough decisions that will keep this country going for the foreseeable future.

Got zero. BOTH parties are at fault. The system is skewed to make third party candidates nearly impossible to elect. Negative ads make me want to throw up. The President can't do a damn thing. Congress is the real power in this country and they keep kicking the can(s) down the road, or watering crap down so they can get reelected to that cushy position with no term limits.

Since none of them will have the guts to take the bull(s) by the horns to fix what really needs fixing (term limits, Social Security means testing, true health care reform instead of that ersatz crap Congress laughably called reform, budget revamp to include a balanced budget amendment, infrastructure repair etc) because it will make them un-re-electable, WTF is the point?

So screw it. I'm sick of it. I won't complain, I'll just stay the hell out of it entirely. When the crash happens (as it inevitably will because NO ONE has the balls to truly reform the government. Don't believe me? Look at Greece) then who is in office won't mean squat.

Local radio guy suggest making a drinking game out of the election coverage today. Take a drink every time you hear the word "battleground state" today.
