Took care of it at lunch. First time voting in Michigan. Im sure it was just my precinct but it was like a trip back in time with paper ballots and markers.
last time I voted (in a different county) all the electronic stuff was setup. This morning it was paper ballots. I overheard people talking in line that they had the electronic machines last time at this location.
I voted last week, took about 45 minutes (only 2 of which were spent actually filling out the ballot).
I don't understand the people who go in to vote without previously reading and understanding the ballot.
I just came back from the courthouse. I have voted. I even took the time to walk there, both ways. Polling place is only allowed one electronic machine and 2 booths for paper ballots. I used the paper.
Going after work and bringing a folding chair for the wait. Hear it's 2+ hours...
I will make the best of it though. Anyone ever order pizza or a Jimmy John's sandwich while in line?

It's a little bit of a bummer to vote for the 'loser' in my state. I do think it's important to stand up and say that you don't agree with the outcome though. Acknowledge that there is another side and they do matter and all that.
I love watching the numbers come in on election night. It's fun.
In 30 years' worth of elections, I have NEVER voted for either a Republican OR a Democratic president. I have always voted third party, which means I have always voted for a loser... but I have voted my conscience every time, which is never a bummer!

I'm trying to avoid news about the election today. haven't read the thread, sorry if this was posted already. I just thought it was a nice map.....voting breakdown by popular vote instead of the stupid winner-takes-all electoral college system
Voted at 1:00. Only person in line in front of me was my mother who I drove to the polls. Machine refused form A of my ballot because it was missing a corner so I had to re-do it. Still took less than 5 minutes in and out even with two pages of ballots. I was the 442nd voter at my location. I think the last time I actually waited in line was when Bush Sr. was elected. Gainesville does a pretty good job managing elections.

I like the idea of the electoral college - just not how it works in its current state. Not a big fan of Mob Rule. I also think there should be more requirements to vote than 18 with valid ID and a pulse; things like verifying income, a very basic knowledge of the Constitution, who is currently controlling the House and Senate, etc. Maybe even throw in some very basic math questions.

valid ID not needed ... offered mine at the polling place today ... was told I just needed to tell them where I lived ( since there were more than 1 walter jones on their books .........
Voted. And "threw away" my vote on a third party candidate.
I normally vote first thing in the morning but there was a block long line down the street in the rain, so I left a little early from work this afternoon and beat the evening rush - got right in and out.

I hope you don't hate yourself in the morning. I have for the last 4 years.

Well, it would've been VOTER SUPPRESSION had they asked for it. Jfc.

I look at it like this, it's not wasting your vote if the other choices are exactly the same.
Wasted it 4 years ago, did again. Don't regret it, because it doesn't matter. All I want is for a wasted vote to get something so people might start to realize that it ISN'T always a wasted vote to go with who you actually want to win.
Damn straight on "wasted votes" (I did, too), and I can see that my pick actually has some fine strong #'s for a 3rd party guy, especially since they were completely ignored in this election.
I voted last week by mail. Now I am sitting at work watching votes roll in and trying to figure out how I will watch things when I get home (no tv).
I'm back from the polls here in MA, and I've never seen such a high turnout. And it was a lot busier earlier today. As a student of History, I think we are witnessing a truly historical turnout.

The system is paper ballots and electronic counting, that way there's a hard record of your vote.
Compared to an electric only system, far, far harder to manipulate.
We've had that system here in Ann Arbor for 20 years- my first vote here was in '92.
I way prefer the paper ballot.

Why? Unless you're living in an undecided state, your vote for prez really doesn't matter. It is going one way or the other, and you really are not going to have an impact on it. Might as well vote for something that actually stands for something other than keeping an ass or an elephant in power.
I voted at 6:20 this morning. In and out in less than 5 minutes. I missed getting my sticker and they used to give you a receipt too. That didn't happen, but I never asked as I noticed I was #51 of the morning ( that was my football number in high school). had to smile at that. Here in the southwest suburbs of Chicago, we do paper and I sat at a table as they only had a few booths open. No biggie there, but I felt like I was in grade school voting for class president.
Voted last week.
Im such a jerk. I am thrilled that my vote cancels out the guy on my facebook that has posted his views every day for the past 4 months.
In reply to Curmudgeon:
touche... but I voted anyways.
Congress is the clown(s) in charge.

Yeah, I voted third party last time... not this time.

I live in a red state. I live in the most red district within said red state. This is no accident. The margin between my state being a red state or a blue state 4 years ago was 4 points. I do not want to live in a blue state. If the Steelers and Packers are in the Superbowl, I'm not betting my money (literally) on the Browns.
I hope that makes sense. I am trying to get good and whiskey lubed. I am also trying to keep E36 M3 funny and lighthearted as this thread is pretty blatantly poking the beautiful bear.
I have allot of personal skin in this election due to my autistic son, but in the end, the professional politician needs to go.
Poke fun, they all want us to bend over, we just get to pick our service-er.
