You really should play Mario Kart while you are AT work.
Rip MP3s at 192 or 256 kbps. It sounds a whole lot nicer. I can't notice the difference in a car, with all of the ambient noise and compromises in sound stage configuration.
Heck, I rip it all in Apple Lossless, and then down convert when it goes into my Ipods. Less data space used, but still sounds good when played on the home system.
Lots of reasons that I won't buy a new car, but this certainly isn't one of them.
