That the next 12 hours will be full of fail?
Got an algebra exam later today, and I'm not looking forward to it.

Gee thanks
My wifes response was; that was ethics for her today?
This is what I get for taking a 6 week algebra coarse when I haven't taken a math class in almost 8 years.
Algebra, Trig, it's just nuts & bolts. You can't put an M8 X 1.25 nut on a 5/16 - 18 bolt.
It's the rules.
Know the rules of Algae and Trig and you'll be fine. Believe it or not, it all makes sense.
I always thought Id never need to solve for y in real life, you know th eold "why do I need to learn this, i will never use it" mentality all kids have in High school. But I honesty find myself using some of the logic i learned in those classes, as well as actually using the math bit from time to time - shadetree engineering often involves algebra/trig as it relates to geometry. Knowing 22.456 = πd (d=7.14), or a²+b² = c² is immensely helpful at times

Quoted for truth. Practical algebra in relation to physics/geometry is something I use on a daily basis.
"By failing to prepare you are preparing to fail" or something like that. Hope the test went smoothly!
Well just got out, don't think I bombed it, but I sure didn't do as well as I hoped to, at least we get partial credit. 20 question test, doesn't leave much room for error. Maybe next time I won't wait till the last minute, to start studying the parts I don't understand. only grades in the class are 4 tests and one final. homework is optional. I've been running my rear off lately, believe me, I usually go most of the week on 20 bucks worth of gas in my protege, been putting that in almost every 3 days for the last 3 weeks. Only gonna get worse as the challenge draws closer. Anyway you look at it, I need more than 4 hours of sleep since I got up Sunday morning. Running on energy drinks is tearing my stomach up. But hey, I'm WIDE AWAKE NOW.
Thanks for the support guys.

To some people, luckily the world needs ditch diggers too.
Years after getting out of college, I still have the occasional bad dream in which I have blown off an entire semester's worth of classes and I am walking toward the classroom to take the final, completely unprepared. In the dream, it is usually a math class.
In reality, it was Marketing and, in addition to skipping all the classes, I was late for the final because I was at the junkyard, trying to remove a front sway bar with borrowed tools.
I love Trig, it makes sense, you can prove it.
Algebra made absolutely no sense to me, but hey, I passed math 12 with a C-!!!
Scantron tests are awesome.

If trig makes sense to you, you can do algebra. If you can grasp algebra, you can learn trig just fine. Neither of the foregoing statements is true UNLESS you have a teacher who is good enough to understand where your personal knowledge/comfort level is and work up from there. Unfortunately, by the time you get to high school math and higher, math teachers are math teachers because they really love math, not necessarily because they really love helping people who don't love math as much as they themselves do.
Sorry, rant off now. How to teach math the right way is pretty important in this house.
