Now, driving an *unsafe* car on the street isn't unique to stance or any other car culture, including non-enthusiasts that just ignore maintenance items like brakes, and that's something I don't like.

Never liked stance, don't like the kids who are into stance, but they're part of their own little community. If it makes them happy and it doesn't harm anybody, there's no reason to not let them do what they want. 

For every awesome build there's a bunch more who try and emulate it without the either the skill, budget or knowledge, or all three, ruining cars in the process. That's not unique to stance, it's always been the case.

Hotrodders.... They made purists cringe and for every good one there was a ton of bad.

Rock'n'roll era cars.... So many butchered for every beautiful example.

Muscle cars... Yup, you guessed it....

How bout those mini truckers! ...Oh that's right, for every awesome, well built show worthy example there was a stack of crap copies, decimating the availability of those small japanese pickups in the process.

The jeep brigade, the miata crowd, the drifters and the standers?.... All the same! no one subset of car modification gets pass when it comes to butchery and destruction. For every great one there's always a number of hack jobs.

On the flip side, if it wasn't for enthusiasts, there's be even less of any of the above mentioned cars because noone would have valued them enough to have nice examples of to save them to begin with, they would have served their appliance function and been scrapped once the viability of repair became uneconomical to the user.

Ive never considered another persons likes or dislikes when building a car for me.  Its also why I only build cars for me and have turned down offers to build for others.   I'll do as I please and encourage others to do the same.   There's a whole bunch out there I dont like, but its not harming me so have at it.   As for runining "valuable" cars, meh.  I have a 62 Corvair Monza wagon sitting here that every one and their brother wants to say is valuable and worthwhile, but no one wants to buy it.   Im keeping it stock out of respect for my father, but if someone doesnt buy it before he dies then I'm gonna bastardize the hell out of it and laugh the whole time.

They are just cars, just metal and plastic and bits and pieces.  Enjoy them however you see fit.

I rode my Moto Guzzi LeMans with LaFranconi exhaust to coffee yesterday morning and leaving the neighbourhood I thought to myself:

"Geez, this thing IS kinda loud, maybe I should stop bitching about the Harley pirates"

I like both Mike and Magnus's builds tbh. But I am also ok with builds of form over function.

My next door neighbor (garage next to my bedroom window) had a Harley.  His wife was furious, like "you're 75 years old, you're not riding that".  So on weekend mornings he'd idle it and blip the throttle occasionally when he rolled it out of the garage to wax it.

That didn't bother me.

Now, the guys who have loud exhausts, and radios, and play the radio at 11 so they can hear it, and don't turn it down at traffic lights.  I have a different opinion.

I hate that they play the radio so loudly. There are many bluetooth helmet modules that take calls and play music through your helmet so you can, you know, hear the music. 

I'm convinced that anybody with a motorcycle radio and speakers just want people to look at them, and if they actually wanted to enjoy the music they would have a bluetooth module in their helmet.

If your motorcycle needs an entertainment system, you bought the wrong bike.

I get what you're saying but I've always found that a sound track can enhance the experience.  I've never heard a speaker system that sounds good on a bike but I've ridden with earbuds for close to 40 years.  I have fond memories of cranking across Vermont's Northeast Kingdom on my XS650 while listening to my cassette tape of Jethro Tull's Thick as a Brick on my Walkman.

I am pretty sure that in south Florida, helmets are not allowed on Harleys. 

I'm trying to think how iconic personalities like Caroll Shelby, John Force, Enzo Ferrari, Willie T Ribbs,Dale Earnhardt, etc, etc would have faired in today's culture of online judgement.
