Cliff notes
2007
88k miles
$9495
I already called the dealer and he said it's $10,500 out the door. That seems a little high to me, but the numbers have gave me for sales tax and vehicle registration checks out. I wouldn't call it a 'deal' but I guess it sounds about right.
Bumping just a little bit of input. I know it isn't a great deal, but it seems about normal. Thoughts?
I know my wife paid right around $20k for her loaded 2010 3s 4-door with the 2.5 brand new. I'd offer a bit less if the car is really calling your name.
Doesn't look like anything to write home about to me. 3's were the same from intro until the cereal-killer-grin so look at some older years, too.
I dunno, for that price I'd rather have a slightly more used MS3...
Sadly MS3s with even more miles are going for several thousand more.
To make my quandry worse, I just found another 07 with 60k and some tacky rims going for $8900. But it appears to be a lower trim level.
The KBB for the car I'm about to go check out is $11k.
are there any substantial differences between an 07 and an earlier model?
For price comparison purposes, I believe my brothers is an 03 or 04 3s, sedan, pretty loaded, (leather, sunroof, etc. ), black on black.
Got it for $9k earlier this year from a private seller with 38k miles on it.
Previous owner moved to the city and didnt need to drive it much, so it was primarily in his apartments underground parking garage for the past 2 years, the car was in excellent shape. Found the ad for it posted on craigslist, seller was asking $10k.

In reply to failboat:
the early cars equipped with autos were 4-speed rather than 5 speed, some of the features that came with the trims changed over time, like stability/traction control, led taillights, HID automatic headlights, rain sensing wipers and navigation might vary year-on-year, but i think the features and options were basically the same from 07-on. all hatchback models were equipped with the 2.3 MZR four, sedans were 2.0 or 2.3, with the 2.0 always getting the 4 speed auto. i think touring and grand touring trims were all 2.3l cars too, but not certain on that.
EDIT: there's an 07 MS3 GT on the houston CL with similar miles asking 13,500 edit2: it must have sold, and its not listed anymore
It is a stick.
Tell him 9500 out the door and you'll buy it now. Otherwise it is going to sit there until he gets tired of looking at it.
