Apparently Charleston, SC has a Bucket List of 50 must do things around town.

I've lived around here for 51 years. I haven't done 33 of them.

Pretty sure their list is wrong.

Technically the next town over but i’ve Never been (nor have any desire to) to the Kentucky Derby.  Not even a little bit.

Dunno if it's official, but apparently they came up with 101 things when the SuperBowl was in town.  I've lived here 30 years and only done three.

Specfically Lick Observatory, Santa Cruz Boardwalk, and San Jose Tech Museum.  Oddly, hot laps around Laguna Seca or Sears Point didn't make the list. :)

good book with a solid list, the writer was really cool and in touch with everyone around here.  Unfortunately she is no longer with us.

I grew up in the Bay Area and I have only done about 25 of them.  Some are a bit weak though.

Glasgow is halfway between Louisville and Nashville. Pretty sure that is our claim to fame.

There is a book out there called "100 things for every gearhead to do before they die". It is broken down to rides and drives, auctions, car museums, new car shows, classic car shows, Concours  d'Elegance, factory tours, land speed records and others. I'll have to re-read it and see how few I have done.

Rome, NY has one item on its bucket list: Leave the area.

OKC Memorial, Bricktown, Automobile Alley, Plaza District, Paseo and the Paseo Arts District, Western District, Midtown, Civic Center Music Hall, OKC Thunder game (it's called loud city for a reason), Myriad Botanical Gardens.

Dinner at VAST is pretty cool since it's great food and service and you're up on the 49th floor.

I have done most of them, and things like the Roberto Clemente museum don't interest me so I doubt I will do the rest.

Greensburg itself sucks, but it's surrounded by things you should do. Fort Necessity and Fort Ligonier for the history buffs, Falling Water, the Johnstown flood museum, the remains of Jeanette glass factory, the Carnegie museums are really quite something.

I guess it all boils down to leave Greensburg.

I have been in the Bay Area for 20 years and have done about 25 of them as well. I have done hot laps at Laguna Seca and Thunderhill too. :-)

In reply to Type Q :

I lived in S.F. 'til I was 13, and still managed to do at least half the stuff on that list that actually looks really compelling. Which is a lot less than half the list.

Now I'm in PDX, and I'm pretty sure the "bucket list" here would involve Voodoo Donuts. Which are fun, sure, but it was more fun when it was a hole in the wall to hit at 2 a.m. after a show. I'm still slightly bummed I never got a NyQuil donut, but I'm sure as hell not getting in a twenty minute line for the seventh-best donuts in town...

This also sort of reminds me of another funny thing about Lists Of Stuff That's Officially Awesome. I never did get to try Stanich's burger. It does sound like there were plenty of other problems before the rush they couldn't handle, but there've been some other stories about places that lost all their regulars because the service couldn't cope with a short term rush of one-and-done's who'll never come back. "I've ticked it off my list. Not sure it was worth the two hour wait." The expectations set by a Bucket List are very high for things that are just supposed to be... neat. Driving the Nurburgring sounds like a "bucket list" item. Eating at that good restaurant on that street in that town sounds like... a good idea if you happen to be there. Too much stuff becomes a to-do list for your life to measure up on Instagram.

I've always wondered where that term came from, I never heard of it until that movie came out with Jack Nicholson.  I find those lists vaguely annoying, having someone else tell me what I should be doing.

The best I could find for my adopted home of Hyde Park is this list from Trip Advisor. They're pretty much all old houses, three of them belonged to FDR.

I think it's more "Here are the cool things to do in this town if you aren't curmudgeon," not, "listen random reader, do as I say!"

I have to admit, I've done everything in the 10 Things to do in Philly list on the visitphilly website... Although most of them during my initial trip here in 1980 to visit my father before my mother and I moved up here for good.

You'll need to log in to post.
