Hopefully this is not a trend, but the Bravada(04,278K) my D/D made an odd noise on start-up. Staying in B'Ham Al for work, the drive to the office takes no more than ten minutes. When I leave to go to lunch no bueno, squirrely steering noises and increased steering effort. Get a tow to CBros, will have an answer by Wednesday. Off to get a rental......my Enterprises are a no go until Tuesday afternoon earliest. Swing on over to Budget and things are are actually looking pretty good until I throw down my DL and it has expired back in May of this year.....so as I sit in my hotel room posting this.... check your power steering fluid level/hoses and your DL expiration date.

Can you renew the license online?
Maybe the renewal and the expired license for the photo will get some sympathy at the rental location?

I wish that I could but it's not looking good for the home team......in Texas they want to see you in person ????
Ugh, sounds like a day! I was pulled over one time on a road trip for expired tags (I had completely missed the renewal in the mail). Thankfully, the cop was great, I renewed online from the car, and was on my way.
Hope all aspects work out well for you!
Man, and I thought I had it rough when our chosen dinner joint was closed early for state holiday.
I noticed this guy on Monday who was having a bad day. When you have a flat tire and then your spare goes flat too...

So I pick up "Da Bus" today less $1534 for a new high pressure power steering line.....new serpentine belt .....four cans of brake clean....steering fluid.....and labor. Only to encounter a malfunctioning HVAC blend door making an obnoxious thunk thunk thunk upon start up. Grrrrrrrrr.....off to Ytube to see how involved this R&R will be (well done video).....so off to GMPARTSONLINE(yaddayadda) and I'm not getting a warm fuzzy on part availability.....like some of this discontinued.......CRAP. Really the blend door actuator appears to be 'available', but for now it's gonna be a miserably hot BAMA/TEX August with the windows rolled down..yea ME!!!
Can relate. The 134 decided it wanted to be free from its years of confinement in my Merc. But it escape with a some of the oil and did all this up in the dash making the car smell really bad. I just don't want to deal with it at the moment so I sent it to a Merc Indy I know and said pleas fix it.
Today we are off for vacation at the lake house for a week so I am just going to put the car out of my mind until we get back.
I can relate on the DL thing! Several years ago I found out the same way, at the rental car counter.
Fortunately I was at a tiny GA airport in Vermont, so she was like 'dont worry about it' and gave me the car anyway.
After that, I started to set a reminder in my phone a few months early.
Hopefully you get the blend door sorted, junkyard maybe? One of my cars has a sticky one, gets kind of ugly sometimes.
Worst Monday - earlier this year/Feb - miscarriage.
F that day.
My worse Monday lasted a week!
Our beagle was clipped by a snow plow, breaking her rear leg. She kept chewing the cast off and I kept getting cranked at by the Vet. I was late for a few meetings because my very first new-from-the showroom-car, a Fiat 128 would just turn off randomly, but start back up 15 or so minutes later. Three days later we went cross country skiing with friends, Trish slides across an icy parking lot, falls and the back of the ski hits her lower back. She's in the hospital passing blood on Sunday. Closing on out new house was Monday, I went alone. I had to call the fuel oil company in front of both lawyers to ensure oils was delivered and the furnace up to speed. I did so.
Three days later my parents, two of my brothers and Trish went to the house to check it out and paint. COLD AS HELL. Puddles of ice on the hardwood floors! The oil was never delivered, cracked the furnace and every radiator in the old house. Everything we owned was stacked in the center of each room so plumbers could install new baseboard and a furnace.
Trish is fine, Daisy doesn't limp, house is warm, I need a wine.
I think my neighbor down the street might be having one of these days.
A little while ago, some commotion in the driveway, a car or two coming and going (alternative transportation for the kids?) Then a rollback shows up and backs up to their XC90 sitting in the driveway. That stinks, must be having car trouble. A minute or two later I hear the hood slam on the rollback and glance over to see a big cloud of white smoke billowing out. The rollback abruptly departs and I can see a big puddle in the driveway right under where it was parked. Oof!
So I was thinking that my only source for the blend door was the mega WS GM dealer with their delivery dates dictated by the mothership(GM) factory , but lo n behold RAUTO to the rescue!!!!! A score on a ytube repair video ,a 5.5mm socket and I can see clearly now the all the obstacles in my way.....deep breath OHY!!!
I was off this Monday, got a call from work just about opening time. Phone was still muted, luckily I saw it.
We have a tight group of four vets in our office. I'm the old guy. I mentored the other three when they were new grads and five years later we're all still working together. That's really rare for anyone in our profession, to stay in their first position for more than the first year, and unheard of in corporate practice.
I really am proud of the way we have fit together. In fact, it's what I'm most proud of in my professional career.
The phone call? One my fellow associates had an aortic dissection Sunday night. His 43rd birthday would have been Wednesday. Now there's three of us.

I'm sorry.
I wish I had something better to say by now but there aren't really any good words to help with that.
In reply to Floating Doc (Forum Supporter) :
My condolences Doc. That's awful. Not very regularly do things just work at work - sorry for your loss.

Hey y'all wasn't expecting any drama after being afforded the finest in automotive repair. Here goes, I decided to check the "fluids" before I return to Decker Prairie Tx. tomorrow (currently in B'Ham Al). Engine oil LEVEL spot on and wait for it .......power steering doesn't EVEN register on the 'stick'. Are you effen kidding me???? and you can damn well guess that when I fish the survey outta the trash(gmail) that I'll be less than inclined to recommend (Christian Brothers).
