I rely on closed captioning, especially in YouTube on the smart TV. Starting Yesterday, CC was not in sync with what I was lip reading, which bends my brain. We tried tried reloading the video. No change. Tried reloading the app with no change. Then, I noticed that I couldn't even click on the CC tab.
Today, different video, the CC works fine, until the first commercial. Then, no captions. Reload the video, and CC can no longer be ckicked. Resetting the router because after the first commercial, the captions disappeared just loke before.
The hell is going on?
In reply to Appleseed :
I'm having the same thing on Hulu. Words are totally wrong, or showing up scenes early then nothing until the video catches back up. Started Wednesday night, and it's done it across multiple shows.
I also use closed captions but I haven't noticed any issues yet. Some videos don't show them for some reason but it's always been that way; I always figured that had to do with how the person posting the video had things set up.
I'm not totally clear on how it all works anyway...it appears that some videos have captions that have been prepared by the poster, while others are automatically generated. Those can be entertaining when they misunderstand what the person in the video is saying (generally because of their accent or when they are speaking too softly.) One thing I notice often is when someone in a video is using an angle grinder, the automatically generated subtitle is (music).
That sounds really frustrating. I don't use CC very often, usually only when I'm watching something in a northern version of the Queen's English (Glasgow, highlands, etc.).
