I have two sets of tires that friends removed from their cars because they are worn enough they are 'off the pace' for super serious autocross, figure around 1 full second slower than optimal on a 60 second course. Beat up shoulders, main tread barely above the wear bars. But they still have a couple of autox events in them at a better pace than any 340+ treadwear tires, or they'll last a few track sessions which is how I was going to burn them up. However they don't fit the new track car. Free if anyone can use them, otherwise I'll throw them away in mid-october. Located in 19539, eastern PA.

I want those 225's but not sure how I can get to them.

If you happen to know anyone traveling through the area, I can meet right off I-78 darn near _anytime_. Just the exit I am near varies whether I am at home, work or kid activities.
There's plenty of fun left in those tires.
I have a set of used re-71r in 195/50-15, dated 2016, and worn at least as much as those. I've been using them for about a year and they've been flipped.
In August I ran them on my ES miata. My co-driver paxed 11th, and I paxed 21st at the SCCA solo event at Daytona.
I’m working in Harrisburg this coming week so I could snag them for any Ohio or Indiana folks
Chander, If you grab both sets, i can likely use the 16’s for challenge backup plan and i could relay the 17’s to bob at the challenge if he doesn’t need them beforehand
There you go, we will take them

Guide to using low tread RE71R @ autocross:
-They like to be hot to work at this stage. Don't spray them unless they are painful to touch.
-Run 2-3 psi lower pressure than new ones, but of course not so low that they roll over.
-Their biggest weakness, at least to me, seems to be lockup on initial braking as there's none of that 'tread squish' to mask aggressive use of the pedal.
After mainly tracking on RE71 and autocrossing on Nexen/Yokohama for the past 2 years, I put a similarly worn set of 275 RE71 on my Camaro for autocross a month ago and they just reminded me of all of the above.
Current Camaro tread - going to run these til they cord. 275/18 is a whole different price range from the ones in this ad :-/

Wow, I go and do some work and y'all figure it out for me! I love this bar.
Pat,
If you end up not needing the 16s we could use them for our 2020 Challenge car. Running 16" wheels but hunting for tires.

If I don’t need backup plan I will bring them for you

Useful information on autocrossing with worn RE-71s. It's not hard to get them hot here in Florida.
I bought a new set, got the first five runs on them on Sunday, my first time ever on good tires. They're all scrubbed in, I'm ready for this weekend.
I've got to find the optimal pressures for my relatively lightweight Miata (99 sport, no options except for power steering and AC). I seemed to have a good wear pattern at 30 front, 29 rear.

Completely aside the original post but if you have enough camber in your stockish setup, you should be running way less air pressure than that. On my NC with -3 degrees of camber I run 22 front and 20 rear.

Pressure in RE71's seems to be largely for feel. Lotta people who tested, concluded there is a really wide range of pressures in which they grip fine, me included.
The ones in this post are with Chandler now.
