I just looked. NJ charges $60 for a lost title and registration record or proof of insurance. Why wouldn't person just do that? That bike with a title has to be worth more then $510?
Easy and worth $60 if you're the legal owner, but if it's been through several hands it may not be worth the effort if even possible. That's how I ended up with a BMW K-1200rs cheap.

I am always leery about no-title vehicles that arent something like a barn find.
