I've heard many times that Gen 4 F-bodys are usually worth less than the sum of their parts, and since I pretty much got the car for the trans, I'm now thinking about selling just the engine, wireing harness and stock computers.
What do you guys estimate I should ask for it? I know everybody wants an LS nowadays, but the LT's still have some fans. Was gonna swap it into an Astro 4x4, but my financial manager just bought me a 03 F-350 4x4, so a lot of projects are being moved out. 'Course I'd love to sell it to somebody here, but I may have to resort to local craigslist yahoos. (I'm one, I know!) I don't - and Won't - do the book of faces, but my SIL might post an ad for me.
Anyway, let me know what a real world value might be. Thanks to all.
We bought one with 80K miles on it, could hear it run before they pulled it for $800. So with double that mileage, I would think $300 or so since it likely needs head work and perhaps rings and bearings. I see them on Facebook from as low as $150 to $500.

I sold one last year for 450.
Wow! guess I've got the *#@^% thing over priced. I won't bother to pull it for that! Guess I'll have to go back to trying to sell the car. Wanted to put some money into some projects so I could sell 'em running.
How about a value on the T56? I know a new Magnum would break my bank, but what would a used on cost me if I let this one go?

Honestly? About tree fiddy. LT1 T56's are berking weird in more than one way.
I sold an lt1 t56 for $1300 a few years ago with clutch, flywheel and pedals.
In reply to Javelin :
I understand the $350 on the LT1 (although I ain't gonna pull it out the car for that) , the engines def, have their odd points. But a T56 with a standard SBC pattern bellhousing? Its the LS T56's that are hard to adapt to a project (that doesn't have a same ol' LS swap). Last I looked, the LS T56's were slightly cheaper than the LT style. If ya find any T56's (that have not been grenaded) let me know; I'll buy a couple.
So does this mean you've got an LT1/T56 Camarobird that you'd like to get rid of?

I paid $900 two years ago for a LT1 T56 for use on a 350. I was pretty happy with the deal at the time
