It's looking like the E28 will be Naturally Aspirated when it comes time to take it to the challenge unless I can score some used challenge price components.
Looking for:
"i" cam and the accompanying dual valve springs.
Turbo manifold
cheap turbo (might just go with a new china unit)
compatible large Bosch injectors
Anything else that seems useful!
For the injectors it depends on what size you want. You can get pink top 19lbs/hr injectors from any m52 BMW those are cheap. If you need more than that, a variety of Ford engines have 21lb and 24lb injectors and fit perfectly.
For the cam you may want to look into getting the full head from an e30 i motor. Flows much better and should be able to get the whole thing for about the same price as just a cam and springs.

Thanks for the insight! I figured there would be some dime a dozen drop ins that I could find at a scrap yard.
We actually have a '885' i casting head, but it seems to be from a Super ETA (1988 only) so it has the junk cam and single valve springs. I have a full i intake manifold and throttle body to go on the head now too, just missing that darn valve train!
