Hi All,

First post. I used to subscribe to the old magazine years ago but haven't kept up with the online GRM scene for a long time. Regardless, I'm seeking out experienced opinions on my problem.

I'm running a stock 944 Turbo and over the past year of ownership have been restomodding to get her up to and beyond stock standards. I've replaced every piece of rubber possible underneath the car with Elephant Racing "sport rubber" bushings and ordered a coilover setup from Intrax. These are not cheap and after answering the questions from their rep Donald so the engineers could "customize" the build for me (street/canyon carver) they arrived nearly two months later. Had them installed by an experienced Porsche shop here in the Vancouver area and the problems began almost immediately. They started as weird but very discernable sounds that were way beyond springs settling in. Fast forward two weeks and I was able to get the car back up in the air and found the housing seals were worn down from contact with the springs. They were "designed" with 60mm ID springs and when I was finally able to speak with Donald on the phone, he suggested they send me new 70mm ID springs and replacement parts to repair the aesthetic damage. Since these were defective from the start I expected a new set of front coilovers to be sent instead of me being expected to repair my own brand new coilovers, and when I send them in to be rebuild they'll do so at no charge. Given that a rebuild won't be necessary for several years, that seems to be a fairly useless offer, but that's a different issue.

My question is, doesn't it look like maybe they thought out my set up wrong and sent the wrong springs? Another 1K2 owner told me he just got his delivered and he was sent 70mm ID springs like they're trying to send me now for my own repair. Have any of you seen this kind of thing before? I'm ready to just ditch this setup and order a set of KW v3 like I was about to do earlier but this was a 6K dollar investment for me (including shipping and duties to Canada) so I'm not going to do so easily.

Thanks in advance.
