What I want to do: Pull engines without having to do goofy E36 M3 with AC lines and condensers to keep the system closed but also without having the guilt associated with just loosing a fitting and walking away. Ie, I want to recover the refrigerant, but broadly speaking, I don't need to recharge (usually pulling engines from wrecked donors).
What I have: Appion G5 twin, a recovery bottle with unknown contents (I know neither type, nor quantity of refrigerant in it), gauges/manifold from a previous foray into some light DIY home HVAC work
What I think I'm missing: at least hoses specific to automotive fittings, if not whole manifold/gauges. A hose and maybe filter to go from recovery pump to bottle? Hoses? I'm clear on the broad the concept of what's happening here, not at all clear on the finer points of how and why. A scale to see how much room I've got in my bottle? I assume different refrigerants have different densities, so can I make a worst case guess on what's in it and go from there? I bought all this used from a local home HVAC guy closing up shop.
So, can someone fill in the blanks in my equipment and then give me a quick overview of the process, or confirm that YouTube videos on the topic are close enough to not kill me?
