my 2014 ford fusion 2.0..   there have been some problems with the turbo and cat. damaging the electornic steering  and it cost a LOT to replace it,,, the car has heat sheilds in the area.. but just stamped steel....i am thinking to  clean really, really good, and apply the gold tape to the ( facing ) the heat source.. and perhaps add a extra heat sheild  to prevent any heat getting to any $$$$ parts

If the heat shields are flat steel, buy some DEI heat insulation, the metal/fiberglass stuff. Cover the insides with that, should make them a lot more effective. It's cheaper than gold tape, in terms of effectiveness at least.

I put the gold stuff on both sides of some open vents on my heat shield and it works well
