I'm finishing up building a gottrikes bender and have some questions that aren't covered in the prints...

  1. The prints call for 7/8" holes in the swing arm to lock in the radius die... my dies (pro-tools 105) came in and they have 1" holes. will this 1/8" difference cause any issues with accuracy?
  2. There is about 7/16" play between the die pivot and the swing arm, and about 2" play between the die follower and main frame. Do these need shimmed for no side to side movement? I haven't bent tube yet but it seems to me the tube, once tightenend down in the die, should hold the die and follower in alignment?

I sure I've seen a post from some one here that has one of these, I just can't remember who it was.

THanks

I built mine according to the plans.

The difference is holes is inconsequential.

I never shimmed the play between the dies and die followers.  The tube kind of centers it all.

If I were to make mine again, I'd alter it to fit JD2 dies, since I can get those locally.  The ProTools dies are expensive shipping to Canada.  But I already bought the dies I needed.

Thanks Skinny!

Guess that's why Frank didn't say anything about it in the plans... sounds like i was worried about nothing..

Hope to start my main hoop today.
