Well, give us a quick review when you can.

Also, did you ever get your merch order? (I got some hint that that sight might be shipping from India!!)

I havent had a chance to fire it up yet. I haven't seen hide nor hare of the merchandise. I figured it would get here when it got here. On top of everything else our major mail hub in Kansas City that everything routes through is so backed up it still has two items I ordered three weeks ago rolling around that hub somewhere that I ordered from ebay. I do not have high expectations for prompt delivery of anything right now.

I have a short review. The opening was pretty sweet, via the opening music. It allows you to set up whatever peripherals are detected and it detected my setup but was buggy when trying to set some buttons. the ones on my wheel were not recognized even though the wheel and pedals were. The beginning car was a Fiat 500 Abarth and we all know how sweet a car that is to drive. Not a lot is implemented yet. But you can tell there is going to be a lot of choices to be made and thats always a good thing. There was only one track and I didn't get to race because the pedals set up backwards. push down was cut throttle and release brake and un pushed was throttle and brake. There was a button there to reverse axis but it didn't work. It did operate on screen but no function yet. The sounds from the car (when I did start on track) are excellent. very realistic. It's like you are there. I see a lot of promise. As they implement more things Ill update.

Sim Magic released a new patch to work with AC EVO. I patched last night and started it up after we raced. It works now. The feeling was very much like AC but with the latest graphics. If this is an early beta it bodes well for the game. With a current release date of fall 2025 it's got some promise.

i'll be really curious to see if they support AC mods.  Several of my local club tracks have been either officially or unofficially posted into AC making it great to practice before a track day.  AC Evo will be a ton of fun but the ability to drive ACC south before an ACC event or BHF / Gingerman is nice to help you more quickly remember the track...

I did a little experiment today and ran AC EVO with the Fiat 500 (actually 695 biposta) on Brands Hatch Indy then ran AC with the same track and the Fiat 500 SS (so not an exact comparison but as close as I could get with the available choices). I ran stock setup and no change in fuel amount from default for both and upgraded the tires in EVO to supercar(the stickiest available) and slicks (H) in AC. After several laps my best lap in EVO was 58.986 and AC was 1:01:773. AC felt easier to go fast and the tires "stuck" better on the track so I can only conjecture that the 695 was more powerful than the 500 SS. Or the model is so much different that it caused a near 3 second difference. Why Brands Hatch Indy? It's the shortest track available in EVO currently so quicker results. It's also a very simple track. Both games were easy to repeat a similarly fast lap to my fastest as long as I stayed on the track. Hard to say which I prefer at the moment. I am so used to AC but the sounds and visuals in EVO are a big upgrade. I think it's going to be pretty sweet when they finish it.

One big criticism of EVO that I have heard is that is is an always online game, which seems entirely unnecessary if you are doing a single player thing.  Then again, online is kind of where the meat of AC normally is.

It would be nice if EVO becomes an effective single player "game" with the physics of AC, with the online component for those who do not strive for the more unusual cars.  I mean, it could take quite a while for EVO to create a car base that is anywhere near as attractive as regular AC, and even then, it's pretty unlikely it would have the amount of older cars. The market, the future, likely far more leans toward newer cars.  I guess you could look at the vanilla AC cars as a guide for what they are likely do do (with more of a lean toward newer)

So many games I play you have to be online these days. I've just accepted that as new reality for gaming. When the trailer came out when the game was announced I watched it and they had many cars older than 1980 alluding to them having a pretty large array of past cars. That was one of the reasons I was so happy for it to release. BTW the latest update added the Lancia Stratos.
