Air  Where do you want me to put the Luxo Barge Test Cars?  I made a folder in the Personal Cars directory and dumped a bunch in there.  I think the Supra and the ISF and maybe the Jag xfr are probably not going to be right for the intent of the class but I pulled them down and want to test them possibly for future use

I take that back the Jag is a 4 door  The other I am not sure of are the volvo's.  There is a BTC volvo that I remember seeing race so maybe a one off race with that car like the Spec Miata.

I think the other Volvo is not a luxo barge as much as it is a wagon and we need to do a wagon based set of cars!!!  So I think while it is cool it will be set aside for another day.

I tried a little tuning the other night, the range of adjustment on the alignment left a lot to be desired.  Generally those cars want as much front camber as you can give it (3.5* or so) and about 1* less in the rear, that car maxes out at 1.4* front and has a minimum of like 3.4* in the rear with a starting point of 3.8*.  I haven't played with the other settings yet so it may be fixable, but I'm not holding my breath.

The Step1 E30 M3 is the same power/weight but has a much wider range of adjustment, maybe try playing around with that.  Also make sure you are reading the alignment readout on the right hand side of the screen vs. the setting on the left hand side.  On the E30 these match, but on some cars they are dramatically different.

I moved them to the Test Cars folder in the Current Assets folder.  We can use that folder for cars we might use for race days, and move them to the main folder to make it official (for the week they are used), then move them to Archive after they are used.  If any are just bad, we can make sure not to put them in Archive.

Speaking of which, I should probably delete that MGB GT out of Archive, that was crap as I remember (there is one in the classic GT pack anyway)

Thanks Air!!  BTW. are you getting me the track today?  I would like to load it up and test to make sure it works on a server.

If the big surprise is anything but school buses on a figure-eight I'm going to be disappointed.

Hmm I think I am out (or late again) this week.  I am very curious what the surprise is going to be

Yeah, I think I am done with liveries, I think I have at least 8.  I need to clean out the "common" ones and I will upload the track(s), and car(s).

I will post here when they are up, and update the first post.  I think I have an idea for that also...

I got a look behind the curtain as I had to make sure everything worked on the server. This is going to be fun.  No one should plan on taking this serious. In fact I think partaking in a beverage befor and during the event is highly recommended.

Spent some time with the E30 M3 tonight, did a bunch of tuning with zero net time gain.  I could make the car better to drive, but at the expense of speed and the car just has some quirks.  This car is basically all about the brake pedal, both how you press it and how you release it, with sides of steering inputs and shift points.  It takes some time to get used to, but when you do it's still diabolical because the slightest error sends you straight into the squirly zone.  However, if you get it right it's glorious.

Braking: you have to start braking with zero steering, and if you do you can compress the brake zones and trail brake as you want to and the car will just do it.  If you have to brake with steering input it must be gradual/light, anything too much just doesn't work.  Start braking with steering input and too much pressure OR brake too late and it won't stop well enough, sending you deep.  At the same time the suspension loads up and releases when you come off the brakes, causing the car to get all out or sorts.  Most cars if you brake a bit too late you can recover just losing a tenth or two, this car it's several tenths as it take time to calm it back down and get back to accelerating.

Shift points: this car is ridiculously sensitive to shift points and you have to shift at redline.  Short shifting by 50rpm on the straight will lose you a tenth and a half, even more if there is any sort of uphill.  Also, this car's programming has a significant lag for shift time which will affect the weight shift so you have to balance you shift points with what the car is doing.  Also, the shifts are hard like the clutch is just getting dumped which also affects the weight shift, exacerbating the suspension load previously mentioned.

tl;dr it's great when you get it right but it's really hard to get it right.

Edit: Does anyone remember what sorts of lap times we were turning in the M3 at Road Atlanta?  It's where I tested and would like to compare.

Also, I did figure out my display issue.  It turns out if you have the "Render in Full Screen" box checked it does not, in fact, render in full screen.  It only does that if that box is unchecked because reasons.

Apparently my wise-ass remark was also remarkably prophetic. In any case, I downloaded and installed all the files on the drive, but the server still lists unavailable content and won't let me in.

Oh crap.  I forgot it was Wednesday and had a couple pitchers of margaritas.  I'll try to keep it together, but I hereby give you permission to punt me from the server if that's necessary.

They were actually rather fun to drive, you just need to not drift them if you don't want the tires to catch fire!

Dean, there is a good IndyCar model out there with 4 different versions (Indy, Oval, Road, Short Oval).   I have it downloaded, so if we want to use it I can load it into the folder (the Indy 500 is coming up of course).
