Do you still have the visual pace notes turned on? I read a suggestion to disable them, so that your eyes watch the road and your ears/brain process the notes.. not sure how I feel about it yet but I think I like it better this way (plus it's a bit more immersive).

I forgot those things were even an option- yes, visual pace notes off. Also I think there is a setting for how early the in-game codriver calls corners, make sure that is adjusted to the early end of your preference because there are a few sections where he calls corners later than others, usually in really fast spots.
OK I have a concern, tried running finland and first stage upon hitting a crowd of people at high speed, my game crashed. I reloaded, this time it started me on stage 2. Upon hitting more people (i have an issue with car control it would seem) game shutdown again instead of putting me back on the track. Reloaded, it is now starting me on stage 3 at service, no car damage (because it didn't update at stage end, I assume) and I haven't set a time for stage 1 or 2. I'm sure if I kept it on the road for a full stage I might not have an issue, is there a way to reset me? or should I just slowly and carefully do stage 3 and 4 and see what happens?
Gonna try the other league now and carefully try not to fly into onlookers. Wish me luck.
2 stages of RGT and despite completely destroying my car, no game crashes. No spectators run down, no cliffs flown off. Maybe that auto reset thing is what screws me up.
Edit: found some other weirdness with steam, going to reinstall game. Hopefully fixes problem
I have the calls set early.
I have the visual notes on, but almost never look at them. Occasionally I glance up at one for reference if I am distracted for some reason and dont hear what the codriver says.
I've got the pace but I need to work on keeping it clean. Mistakes cost me in both series this round although it was my first time on the Finland stages. Those ditches sure are tempting too but it cost me a tire in the first stage and had to finish on the rim.
Anyone else running an H-pattern shifter? It's all fun until you stall the car lol

Finished up the DLC series this morning. If i wouldn't have DNF'd the first stage I would have been around a 25' 36.594" total. I even managed to do a couple of segments in the last stage faster than Nonack! At least according to the splits that showed up. But then i caught a tree with the back end and spun 3 turns from the finish and berk'd the last segment. I really enjoy the Group A cars in Finland, good choice Nonack
Requested to join both the normal and dlc groups. Currently running a logitech G29 wheel/pedals/shifter on pc.
Picked up the DLC. Oddly enough I couldn't get it through steam because it wouldn't show up. So I opened a browser window that was not logged into steam, added it to my cart, logged in, then purchased it.
The way steam handles DLC like this is not great.
I'm about to give the DLC group a shot. I did a practice run in Finland, and holy E36 M3 there are some late calls. Its the first time I ever drove the Integrale and that thing is a spunky little monster, but it feels like a pogo stick. It was just bouncing all over the place for me. I switched to the Escort and it felt buttery smooth by comparison.
Edit just did the first stage, that was fun. Nonack and I were within 1 second at every split, until the last one, where I'm guessing he ate it because he suddenly dropped 10s back. That was a great stage, but there is a 1 Left call (sprinter van & crowd on the outside) that is way way way late.
reinstalling the game really fixed a lot for me, game is much smoother. I cranked the graphics way up and still smooth, but now I can see the fear in the eyes of the spectators as i fly into them at full speed.
Fixed the crashing issue, too. Stage 3 and 4 in finland both involved some significant shunts and flats, no game crashes. Here I thought steam was supposed to keep the games up to date and stuff? Maybe there's still room for issues. don't know. Problem fixed.

Your guess is correct, I decided that big pile of logs warranted closer inspection and it cost me my front bumper
Well, at the start of stage 2 I immediately blew a tire and it cost me a minute and pushed me way back :(
I'm surprised at the speed some of you guys are holding in these sections with the giant jumps. Are you jumping, or slowing way down and accelerating on the back side of each hill?

I usually slow down if there's a turn anywhere near the jump, but it'll still be enough to catch a tiny bit of air.
Next DLC championship starts Wednesday night- Monte Carlo, Rally GT. First two stages will be sunset into night and snowing, followed by a long service, and then two daylight stages in what passes for dry conditions for that rally.
Also, in the regular championship- Group B in New England is going to be nuts, I'm not sure a more tree-destroying combination exists.

I wonder if its possible to clear the tree tops. I'll find out I'm sure
That pile of lumber at the end of the first Finnish stage has collected many a car, I imagine..

I immediately cracked under pressure. I can set a top 100 time in time trial, but as soon as it counts for real, I'm sliding off corners I've never had an issue with. I had a particularly soul crushing moment on ineptitude this time. I got a flat, after repairing it, I reved to the motor to the moon and dropped the clutch and launched directly into another log....giving myself another flat. Video for your viewing pleasure.
That (New England) was terrible but fun! I drove 7 miles on a flat on ss2- bring 2 spares, guys.
Finally had a clean run through the stages, a bit of practice and tuning paid off for me. Took it a bit easy in the rain at the end and had a little bobble just before the finish so I lost 10 seconds on that one.
I need to work on seamlessly transitioning to left foot braking during corners where I don't need to be shifting (using clutch and H-pattern). It's quite a work out constantly shifting and moving the feat around to heal-toe, driving the real deal must've been crazy.
If you use the Delta S4 in VR make sure to take a look behind you before starting out, pretty cool view of the engine. If you are using the Puegeot you can do the same thing but you will see where they forgot to finish the car.

Blarg running into computer issues here for both Championships. Its a USB hub and VR thing I'll figure it out eventually. IF anyone wants to know the downside to VR its that its still an emerging technology and sometimes you're just gonna be pissed off at it. Anyway heres some of the first stage of the DLC championship. My audio cut out but I finished the stage anyway. Then it disconnected the headset and gave me a dnf for the stage. blarg.
On a postive note the quality is decent the frame rate is mostly stable and you can see my pedals

Yes, VR.. 60% of the time it works every time.
Just did the first 2 stages for this week (new england). What a E36 M3show lol. I was somewhat relieved to see after stage 2 that apparently I'm not the only one having a bad week.
Drawing up the next regular championship now- things are going to be slightly different than the usual for the first two events, and then back to the standard format for the third.
1- Mad Max Endurance Rally: Old RWD cars, long Australian stages, chewed up road surfaces and NO SERVICE. Repeat, no services, bring spares and play the long game. This also starts at sunset, runs through the night, and the final stage is in daylight again, so don't break your headlights!
2- Big Scary Sprint Challenge: R5 cars, fast Polish stages, no surface degradation and SERVICE EVERY STAGE. You can go full tilt every time knowing there's a service park at the end.
3- Not Nearly as Terrifying as The Other Two: Nice slow H1 cars, nice smooth NZ stages. Back to the usual service before SS3.
Starts Monday at Noon.
Well, I finished! But not well, having a few brewskies before the first two stages was not a wise choice.
Next champs sound fun!
