you all probably saw the 1st expansion was announced for December.
As I like drifting all the things...*pants tightening intensifies*

I pulled the trigger on the expansion packs but so far absolutely none of the DLC cars interest me.
Looking at new tv's and potentially a corresponding xbox means I'm looking to potentially own Forza for the first time (and an xbox for the first time)
As a non techy the whole buying in different flavors from the outside looking in is confusing. various editions, various amounts of content I presume? You need to buy a subscription on top of it?
Been a loooong time since I clicked off hours into the dawn hours playing Gran Turismo on my Playstation. ;-p
The graphics look pretty incredible, I'm just wondering if I'm going to be pissed off every time I want to play something and it's locked and I need to spend $20 more real money or something.
I got the basic ediition with game pass and then went ahead and bought the car pass. There's still a lot of cars available without the car pass and you can pick and choose what cars you want if you just want to buy them seperately. There are apparently going to be some map expansions but I'm going to hold off on thoses myself.
FYI the standard edition of the game is $35 on Amazon currently. Linky
IMO even if you dont get any of the DLC, its still a pretty incredible game series.
The forza franchise as a whole has definitely been ridiculous as far back as FM4 when it comes to paid download content.. Its not bad enough that anyone that has it (and you dont) has any sort of advantage over you, but its just at least the cost of the game or more if you just have to have it all.
And over the years its really turned to recycled content in the form of stuff that used to be in a previous version of the game, and then its absent in the latest version, and wow here it is again in a paid DLC pack that you can buy if you just gotta have it, with a couple new cars thrown in.
The games are still really good, but theres a lot of bullE36 M3 with the DLC for the lifelong forza players. But hey if its all new to you, its really hard to go wrong.

I'm not a fan of buying a $50-70-90 game and then having to spend additional money on it. If you want everything that the developer can offer, you'll have to do that, but I've been content with just playing the base game. You won't be required to spend additional money unless you want additional content/missions/worlds/stuff.
I will say, my son bought the launch edition of Horizon 4 with all the DLC content for $100, and I think this will ultimately be a good deal, rather than spending $20 here and there that he'd do anyway. I admit to buying the Porsche DLC in Forza 6 simply so I could race around VIR. I also bought the winter DLC in Horizon 3 because it was different.
Right now, I'm loving the game. The graphics wowed me, then I got around to messing with the radio stations, and heard Award Tour. The game even just gave me a fifth-gen Z/28 - a shortlist next car irl.
I've found taping the e-brake makes it easier to get going on dirt in a high-power rear-drive car.
I was offline when I finished the tutorial section. I'm hoping to find time today to get plugged in and get started in the game in earnest.
I've been grinding through speed traps and speed zones, mixed with the stunt driver series. I've come to realize that I like driving fast and hooning about more than I enjoy competition, and this is perfect.
Join us for crapcan racing! I'm not sure how the crossplay works with windows and xbox, but it does. Failtboat could explain it better since he does it.
FYI, the Peel P50 stays D100 with everything thrown at it but the motor swap. You can even put custom wheels and AWD on it
I got bored and this happened.
No idea if I'm going to keep it. Might go back and actually copy the livery I planned on doing when I started playing with stripes.

How does that work, and what counts as a crapcan within the context of the game?
I guess with crossplay you can just add us to your friends list, probably on your Microsoft account, and should be able to join each other's games.
We take D and C class cars and throw power adders at them until they're in A class. Stock tires, but AWD swaps are suggested. The hypercars are fun and all, but there's something about a 1000hp gremlin sliding through a race that puts the Senna to shame.

I run an 86 ford escort almost exclusively. The peel is another of my favorites.
With Windows 10 just get the Xbox app and I leave it running when I fire up forza horizon.
Its not quite as seamless as playing on xbox, you end up minimizing the game to access the app if you need to do anything with the friends list like joining a party etc. But I actually run a 2nd monitor just to keep things like the app or discord open if needed. Or have car photos up if im painting a livery.
Game load times are better on PC, but I did get lag any time I was hosting a party chat or convoy on pc (even w 150mbps) so i always let someone else lead.
I actually just got an xbox one s so have the option to play on both. The save games are cloud based so it just takes a couple minutes to sync your game any time you switch platforms and away you go.

Stock motor with bolt ons, awd, slicks.
The auction house E36 M3box rally is possibly the best idea I've had in a week full of bad ideas.
I really wish they would let us buy the winter time plow trucks. Let me drop the 2400hp racing diesel in it and berkeleying go.
It's almost a unimog anyway

Yeah, it was amusing. I'm debating the idea of class limits though. If someone gets a ringer (Rico and Nixon both last night) the race is over. Either that or staggered starts for classes. Make the racing more interesting. Last night when I had that 881 sti- there was no way anyone was catching me, and there was no way I was catching the s2 pack. That's not all that fun.
In reply to Mndsm :
I agree. And we all bought S2 60k E36 M3 last after the last race. Not really looking forward to racing S2 street cars on dirt.
I do want to do some S1 rallies though, I finally bought a Delta and it's an 899.

A class is the sweet spot- I'm convinced. The s1 Subaru was pretty damn fast in the dirt- and really, s2 anything is going to be street supers and track cars, and I just dont care about that stuff. I have the koenigsegg and that's all I need. We also have to determine if we wanna run dirt again tonight. It IS winter, so that makes things more interesting. I'm also playing with the idea of a dirty cheater move, but I'm not sure I'm willing to share that plan.
Can always change the season in blueprints. Can also design the track yourself...
