I have discovered 2 things-
1- a 2 minute brake stand barely wears out tires, but it does heat saturate them
2- Heat saturated tires don't grip a whole lot less, but they are much more predictable for drifting.

ok I'm biting, i'm gonna try it. Maybe a few times just to buy all of those 20 million dollar cars I'll never save up for
Here's my plan, sell the one I have, buy 20 of them, delete game data again, and go on a buying spree before updating again. How long before they fix the glitch do you think?
you can think of them like money savings, when you need cash in the future, sell them and you won't have to do the exploit ever again.
Fun fact, the 88 Countach is now a premium car.
I'm going through my go fast ffs, and so far the only one that isn't as powerful as it was before was the SRT4. For some reason it looks like they dropped the max power by about 50hp to 560
Finally popped my GT6 cherry. Did the update straight away. Am tempted to try the money glitch. Dunno. Need enough money to get the Mercedes in the first place.
Do you lose all your progress, or no?

You can get the Merc once as a free gift. And you're deleting the game data, not the save, so you don't lose any progress.
You can sell the gift Merc? (After deleting the update of course)
Also, you should able to back up your save just in case.
That's what I sold to get the money.
Another fun fact, for those of you not fans of Skylines, the 3000gt is back up to its pre GT5 power numbers. I have a 98 MR sitting at 938 hp.
E: R8 Gordini fully tuned = mini yellowbird. 313 hp in a 763 kg rear engined little box.
I did the thing (bought 5 of them) but ran into a glitch. Now I have to re-update the car images for them to show up in the garage, and I have to re-input my code for the anniversary cars in order to use them again. Still, I got a lot of fancy new cars and 20 million in the bank for future fun.
FYI those 20million dollar cars sell for 6 million. That'll come in handy if I need cash in the future.
I burned through the first 20 million. 186 cars, lot of them are fully tuned up, some very scary monsters in my garage.
Redid it so I have 20 mill again, this is probably the last time, since I don't have the patience to dick around with deleting E36 M3 and installing it all again constantly.
Yeah it does take annoyingly long. That's why I got 5 of them, then deleted, then sold them while buying stuff, and once they were all gone I updated.
good news, the money cap is confirmed to be higher. I sold my honda fit, now I have 20,005,100 credits.
So, all of you have done the money glitch... and survived?
I've seen a few notes about it, how about a link to the best instructions?
This accurate?

So far I have only seen Rufledt and Grizz mention actually using the glitch right? I am on the fence about it, nothing usually ruins a game faster than using the cheat codes. It's not like I am stuck from progressing in the game because I can't buy XYZ super expensive car. So I am not sure I will do it not because I am worried about Sony but just dunno if I want to make myself literally not give a crap about winning races anymore
In reply to BradLTL:
That's pretty accurate. One thing I would add, is to disable your PS3's internet connection after you delete the game's data.
Confession: I spent over 100 million on cars. Yikes.

I've done it, too, and I understand what you're saying. I was on the fence about the glitch, but in the end, the thought of ever having to pay more money to drive cars that my $60 should have afforded through natural progression sealed the deal for me. I still intend to 100% the game; that hasn't changed. I put a copy of my legitimate save on one jump drive, and a copy of my glitch save on another. If Sony doesn't like what I and many others have done, then I will still enjoy my cars offline.
Agreed. I was never at a point where I needed to buy a car to progress, since the anniversary pack gives you pretty much everything you need. I also never really had a funds problem, I just saw a way to get a whole bunch of those classic 20 million credit (and other crazy expensive) cars that I know I'll never have the patience/desire to save up for.
Also +1 on watching out for ruining your save file. I had a corruption problem, but the backup saved me and I haven't suffered any long term effects (yet). Suffice it to say I'm done with the glitch... for now...
In reply to Rufledt: Same here. After reinstalling patch 1.01 three times, I think I'm pretty well set.
after your buying spree, did you remember to bring 20 mil. back with you when you updated? I did
There are still cars I didn't buy like the 20 million credit classic Jag, but I already had the premium 20mil. Ford and the 20mil. Ferrari race car.
I know the GT5 series won't be over real soon, but does anybody want to try a GT6 spot race this weekend? Something like "way overpowered FF cars at Bathurst"?
