The dynamics model in GT6 has some bugs but is much better. If an e30 is a must then I guess you should wait for GT7 on PS4. Maybe then.

the more i play this game the more i dislike it.
The tracks and many cars are good and all, as well as the different game modes available rather than "just race" in forza 4 you have rallies, etc. However this is just a patched GT5 and after so many updates and now this patch-game there is just too much inexcusable E36 M3 in this game.
There are numerous bugged cars. American 240SX has SR20DET. Nissan Stagea 2.5L has the same stats as the Autech version with the GTR drivetrain, there is the case for quite a few cars. In the Mazda and Nissan pages there are page after page of the same Miata and the same GTR but they don't have E36 M3 like the Pulsar GTIR, Mazda 323GTR, Alfa Romeo GTV6, E30, Starion (has a rally starion though strangely) etc. Eclipse and Talon both are front wheel drive saying AWD was discontinued, which wasn't true until the edition after that. Simple cars that should without question be in the game or are easy to get right.
The car mods make NO sense. Putting a "high rpm turbo" just adds torque in the higher rpms but keeps the torque int he lower rpms from the previous turbo? Weird. In Forza when you put better cams on the power up top increases where in this you just get more RPM but the powerband looks identical, the number ont he lower right that says (rpm) just increase. The lack of thought put into car mods shows on certain cars like the MR2 Supercharged, because it has a supercharger on there if you were to put on a turbo they woul, you know, actually of had to of done research to see what power the 4age makes down low without a supercharger (which they could of copy/pasted from another car) but instead they just make it so you can't put on a turbo at all. The mods match in no way reality, like a AW11 MR2 with a built engine (or 4agze) can easily make over 300whp with a gt2874r (or 2860rs or 2871r). On this the most you can do is ~260 bhp with 100,000 credits of mods. Then of course you cannot put wider wheels on any car, the most basic car mod. So if you drive a car with 190 series tires like the not in the game Pulsar GTIR you are stuck with them.
The races are pointless. The AI is terrible, the AI doesn't adjust to your mods or have any difficulty adjustment (only a willingness to ram you off the road adjustment). The PP it says for races is obvious not what the AI goes by. It plays that stupid intro when the cars in front are already racing at full speed. Etc.
The track selection is nice. The high point of the game. It's cool that it has tracks like Willow Springs.
The biggest ridiculousness i've seen what that the Supra Turbo RZ (or whatever they call it in the game, basically the 90s supra) probably one of the most used car is a substandard. Why? The MK3 is for some reason standard (aka premium, i refuse to call cars just up to the quality of the console's graphics premium).
I don't HATE the game it's just it's not a good game, like at all. I play a lot of games and have for decades and this has all the qualities of a mediocre game. Some of the detractions like terrible graphics on substandard cars are forgivable if it has features to make up for it but there is not enough good to balance out the suck in this. If I paid $30 for this I wouldn't be complaining about it, but this game cost $60. $60 for a patch.
No GT6 for me. I'm not paying 60$ for an expansion pack.
lol looks like someone has the same opinion as me looking back
I do understand that Porsche does not allow/license Polyphony Digital to use their cars. Could the same be true for the other "missing" awesome cars? Could the manufacturers be pushing PD to newer more profitable images. The E30 may just be not on BMW's marketing minds anymore. I expect them to push the i8 into games before an E30. Sad to say.
I am surprised at the glitches and errors in GT6. Especially as you said it is basically an augmentation of GT5. The whole Eagle Talon thing is just plain weird. I guess with the money they are pulling in they should be able to get past their Japanese focused knowledge base and accurately research the cars they do put into the game. Maybe this is how Japanese want to play a car game; picking between a dozen NA miatas?!? IDK.
I was not happy either at the numerous but seemingly not different miatas. Maybe some miata expert can explain why they are in the game.
The AI updates make the AI drivers a slightly more aggressive foe but still more annoying than racing rivals. I hate it sometimes when they move inside to force you outside then brake at the apex for no reason so you can't do an over under without big risk and if you go around the outside they sometimes PIT maneuver you into the weeds. Then the leaders seem to get drowsy on the last lap so you can win. sucks.
It is a good "patch" if you want to call it that in terms of driving physics and force feedback into the wheels. Gameplay sucks but the new driving dynamics and online racing with GRM guys would be awesome. I only really play auto racing games. The only other games I put time into are playing two player games with my kids and XCOM(loved the original so had to try the new one, tons of bugs in that game too at the beginning). So I am no game expert.

I am asking this with curiosity not spite so please take it the right way.
What was your expectation of the game? I went into it just hoping for the better physics model and tracks.
agreed, the thing dies in the upper thousand RPM or so
also i'm glad to announce online event payout has DRASTICALLY increased.
i read about that, sounds like money will not be an issue between career, seasonal events, and login bonuses.
Also of note: There apparently is a bug in the custom rims. Fitting plus size rims to a car with staggered wheel sizes, sets the rear tires to the same size as the front tires. This apparently has a very noticeable effect on some cars.
So, if you have custom rims on a car and it's acting strange, try going back to stock. I am not sure if it effects any custom rims or just plus size ones.
So since they're throwing in old dirt trackers, I'm kinda hoping they give us old nascars(50s) and maybe dirt daytona.
I doubt it.

We did try a bit of kart racing at Tsukuba and Autumn Ring Mini last night. (4 drivers participating)
Certainly a bit of learning curve there. The kart are very sensitive to bumps though, so Tsukuba was less then ideal.
Not sure how good of a series it would make. I think we are all so new to them we would all have to get used to them to see what it settles out as. In general though, being super smooth is a bid deal with these, so I can see how using a controller would be a bit of a disadvantage.
just curious, is there any tuning on the karts or is it just a hop in and drive matter?
if the ffb works well and steering is fast enough i could see them being a riot. for a wheel user.
We were using PDI 100cc Karts in GT5, only tuning was gear ratio.
The other thing is that on the car tracks, it becomes a draft fest. That said, short sprint formats work out very well as there is a lot of real estate on a car track in a kart.
In all, I think we tried Tsubuka, Autumn Ring Mini, and Suzuka (small one).
I was on a controller, but I think I was much handier in a kart when I was using a wheel a year ago.
Do we get any nifty different karts in GT6? Especially awesome would be if we get a shifter. (the PDI 100 is probably what a TAG kart is like, only one gear.
failboat wrote: there is a shifter kart
Can't wait to get GT6 then... I think we should really think about giving shifters a whirl.
It's pretty strange they did not bother to put shifter Karts in GT5. It would be super easy to implement and for more reflective of kart racing.
Do they even have single speed 125 karts? Seems a bit silly. I know they have the Briggs style, but what engine and trans would they use? Are those 125cc mopeds single speed?
Base on last night, we should certainly do some more testing in GT6. We are planning on doing a few weeks of just playing around with different ideas, so that should fit right in. It will be interesting to get a crowd of 8+ karts in a race and see what kind of mayhem that produces.
Oooof. So I'm probably only going to do the glitch one more time. Still waiting for it to delete the game data, it's taking waaay too long.
The update is probably going to as well.
Has anyone driven that Red Bull Junior dealie yet?
It do not. Since I had 2.5 million and was driving the Hudson when I updated, just like I was before I sold code 2074.
You know, these time trials are a pain in the ass.
Races I can deal with, that's no issue. I do not, however. run perfect laps. I get maybe one good lap and the rest I'm wider, braking later than I should, off some and generally slowish or too fast. So it gets kind of irritating to run one decent lap in a time trial, get silver, and then have to run 3 or 4 more laps before I can even get another time because I've invalidated them.
Which is really the annoying part. If I muff a lap, it shouldn't count against the next one too. That's horseE36 M3.
Plus I can't really farm them for cash.
In reply to Grizz:
But did you see my hotlap time in the Mito? 1:02.999 I definitely could have kept going, but to me, that was perfect.

Yeah, at this point that's seriously the only reason I'd buy it. The physics don't mean a whole lot to me in that sense, I'm used to relearning everything anyhow.... I just wanna beat on an e30.
