Proudly I got a second in one. But all I'm shooting for is the gold, it was so annoying seeing all the tracers until I figured out how to turn them off.
Yeah, as someone who has a bad habit of following the line of the person in front of me(which bit me in the ass many times while racing with you guys) it made running them a bit difficult.
Although I got over it and use it as a benchmark for a decent time.
A suggestion for a race series for you guys: Red Bull Juniors. That is seriously one of the nicest driving race cars in the game.
If we did anything like that, I would want a race, not a time trial. I, honestly, don't think I am that great at running against time. I am sure that sounds odd, considering I am an auto-xer, but I like the race craft envolved on an actual race.
I have a few friends that made the switch from forza, one of them mentioned tuning is a lot more similar to forza now. I always used tuning calculators to get a good baseline to start tuning so I gave it a try on GT6 with an FM4 calculator I like. Some of the adjustment ranges are different and you have to just try to get the f/r ratio close enough...but after a few minor adjustments to the initial tune it feels really nice. Just how I would have tuned the car to feel on Forza.
(The stock tunes are way way too soft)

Good point, but I feel like I'm better at time trial than traffic due to lack of experience lol though come to think of it my best times are usually during a race and not timed lapping or warm up.
I'm hoping to start autox-ing this coming season, does that mean I should rock at it?
I think my goal for the first season is not to come last. I can deal with last in my class no problem, in fact i'm expecting that, but if another noob shows up with a stock dodge caravan or something and smokes me, too, i'm gonna be really sad!
on a serious note, I'm not sure I could be very regular in my participation, school keeps me pretty insanely busy at all hours of the day (as in 3 all nighters last week alone), and during break I have to get a nursery ready/do thesis and dissertation work. I bet we could do both kinds of things, time trial and race. Maybe some 'practice' lapping before a race where people could watch, and then an actual race?
I might be able to make them if we schedule them ahead of time a ways, but I bet my participation in a GT6 weekly series would be pretty intermittent, especially with a baby coming in february.
In reply to Rufledt:
Schedule it for the most likely time of the week that each of you could make it and if something comes up postpone it until the next most likely time. No pressure to rush through it or have it set in stone . . . with the exception that all three hares are present and accounted for. Oh, yeah, and any other hares that show up or have been overlooked. It would be truly shameful to have a misplaced hare.
Santa brought me the game! But I won't be able to play until tomorrow night or possibly Saturday night.
My copy finally slid down the chimney last night. Fiddled for a couple of hours this afternoon. Preliminary observations: Definitely has a different feel than GT5. Overall, I think its better. Handling differences are more pronounced and accurate (IMHO) between front and rear drivers. Lower end tires seem to have a much more progressive break away. Stupid stuff like curb hopping and hard braking with the car's keyster pushed out receive a much harder slap on the proverbial wrist. Punishment for high speed offs is harsh (you're done in any short lap count race), as it should be. It always bugged me (although I admit to doing it a lot) to have a 125mph off and be able to simply mash the gas, aim for the track and resume whatever position you were previously in. Decent amount of cash available from on-line races, as well as a decent number of "freebees" available by running on-line races or watching some of the movies. (Example: free Mercedes concept car just for watching their "making of" film) Having fun so far!
Yay Santa brought me 120min of update download for Xmas!!

yup. Put my game in just now and started the update.I'll check on it in the morning before I leave for work haha.
You guys have slow internet.
So yeah, I propose a 125cc shifter kart series.
Rather fun. Although, I consider bump management to be somewhat part of the fun. (could be an interesting curveball).
I was running it with my controller, so its not too terrible, but will need to get my wheel out and cross compare.
They are fun because you have to be subtle to make them work, and the shifter doesn't have the huge time penalty for mistakes the single gear karts do. (although, a shifter series with a top of class runoff in single gear karts could be fun)

I'm not home so I can't add anyone, in case you get buried in the forum by the time I get back my psn is chimpwithwheels, i'll check for requests when I get home.
I would be up for some GT6 online tonight. I havent tried it yet. Any particular cars I should try and build before then? Something that you guys may have run on GT5? I have been spending my $$ buying and selling cars for paintchips, and upgrading a couple cars but I have maybe 17 cars right now, many of them are just stock. Going to go try to run all the seasonals right now I hear they give you monies. and paintchips.

I agree the karts are fun as hell. I have only got up to 100cc's working through career, Yep, if you spin/catch a wall/or get stuck with the single speed karts you pretty much get passed by the whole field, but they are still really fun.
I havent tried the shifter kart yet.
Has anyone tried the light car yet? That thing looks fun I think I'll buy it tonight
i havent tried it yet, i heard it drives and sounds amazing.
I got play it some tonight. Ran through the novice races and the first liscense. I just used a controller for quick play, but I like the way the cars feel already. Saturday after work I'll break out the wheel for the full experience.
I like it so far except for 2 things: it automatically goes to replay after a race, and any time you push a button it tells you what that button does above the tire display.

Thankfully the buttons showing up thing doesn't happen when using a wheel
In reply to Rufledt:
Awesome. It was quite distracting for me.
PS. The first liscense tests had some leader changes last night

I think i saw an option to turn that display off in the menus somewhere.
Not sure if it was mentioned or noticed. I guess in GT6 once you earn a paint chip you have it for good and it can be re-used over and over. Since I am new to the series I found this thread useful to try and find some more interesting colors.

The shifter is only about $10k. I was doing some shifter races online last night with random people, its a ton of fun. Only problem is that we will have to test out some tracks before we race them. (for instance, Trial Mtn iis rather bumpy and difficult)
Grand Valley is a hoot though.

Anyone else having trouble tuning the different NSX's? I can't seem to get them to stop power-oversteering.
The EVO's and S2000's on the other hand,
You want none. 450pp and 500pp are my favorite spots to tune those.
I have yet to dabble with MR road cars. I would think you could get them pretty dialed in with some suspension and diff tuning (just based upon playing with tuning on FR/FF cars and how much of a difference small tweaks make). But I havent driven one yet except for the Redbull Junior.
Ill go give an NSX a shot.
