Leaderboard record is a 53.0, the AI will be in the 57-58 range.
A good plan to switch to the longer track, I think. At least two wheels on the track is fair. Will be interesting.
As a note, with the above guidelines, you WILL be allowed to put outside tires on the grass. Probably best to experiment with this technique after the race has started.
BradLTL said:Yea, actually I just was practicing. I was turning in good laps but still a couple seconds off the time Argo posted. I was struggling to find those seconds. It’s because I was running the international layout.
TRACK SWITCH...
Knockhill International
Just for those of us who find it hard to keep up: squared hairpin ("National"), or full hairpin ("International")?
I'm still working on some stuff, but right now the International layout isn't working for me. I'm almost 7 seconds slower than my National time with the same tune...
Edit: found another half second but still well off the top leaderboard times.

That's great! We may all have a shot...
My fast lap is a 57.2 but realistically I tend to turn most of laps in the mid 58s. I’ve still have some driver things to improve. I’m inconsistent into Duffus and really struggle with my line through the chicane. I either cut it too close and get my time taken away or run wide and get my time taken away. I hate that guy.
I’ve got my setup to where slides are a lot more manageable. I’m not power sliding it, but I can catch it without too much drama.
I tried using the Time Trial for testing but gave up after a couple laps. The issue is that they give you a car with tires and brakes at full operating temperature. In the real races, my brakes never get to operating temp. So that screwed with all my brake points. Just FYI if anyone is thinking about doing that.

Ok, that makes me feel better. I've run a bit quicker than that, but when you said you were only a couple seconds slower than Argo's National time and that AI would be running 57-58 I wasn't feeling great about my times. My fast lap was in the 55's but that is nowhere near race pace. 57-58 seems like a pretty reasonable range.
The chicane is the worst, there are 3 different ways to lose a lap time by his standards where you're 80%+ on track.. What gets me more is that any infraction in the last sector nullifies the next lap. Any bearing on the next lap? Nah, but let's invalidate it anyway.
In reply to BradLTL :
I've run some clean 56's and an invalidated 55.
I'm of the opinion that peak pace only matters here for starting position, and even that is marginal. Race pace will be pretty similar for most of the field and the track is so bumpy it'll be easy to make mistakes.
I agree. I don’t think I will be mistake free this race. It’s just a matter of minimizing the mistakes and not compounding them.
With this small of a track, the field will get spread out pretty quick, so it won’t matter where you are or what position you are in, you’ll have to contend with traffic.
The injection that I had in my eye on Monday didn't go well. I am still dealing with pain and vision problems today so I am likely out for tonight.
In reply to Argo1 :
You should definitely join so we get to play "AI or a Blind Guy" with all the cars you share livery with.
Who wrecked you, AI or a blind guy?
Who's coming back on track, AI or a blind guy?
The possibilities are endless
Now, now. He has already made it clear he would rather have needles stuck in his eyes then race with us!
Sorry for your issues, hope you feel better soon.
If it makes you feed better, I can take Brad out for you.
Went ahead and opened the room. I’ll join as soon as I get the kids to bed. Enjoy some extended practice time.
Attempted again, got repeatedly booted from the track after barely 1/2 a lap (back stretch), and after sitting there in the lobby once racing started, noticed in the upper left that the minimum grade to enter was F100. I'm still U14 and significant change, so... :-(

You’re not only with the issues.

The best guess seems to be something to do with older routers.
In reply to oldrotarydriver :
The driver rating isn't an issue, I'm still a U driver as well and haven't had a problem connecting.
As for the race itself, it can be summed up that with 4 solo offs and 3 major wrecks with other cars I had the cleanest race.

The crazy thing is, absolutely nothing has changed since I started! Same router / firewall I had when I spent three hours online with you folks at Donington, then the IROC Camaros at Road America for a couple hours, but after that, an unending series of quick disconnects for the forum races. You can practically put a stopwatch to it; maybe 45 seconds to a minute, tops, then it's offline and another pass through Invitation - Join - Lobby - Pit - Out lap - disconnect. I even made sure everything had been restarted prior to this evening's attempt.
This, is frustrating.
Thanks for the links. Looks like I'm not alone.
Routers do need to be reset. Have you done a restart of it (unplug and plug back in if needed).
The next track is actually pretty interesting
Lots of elevation changes (the blue areas show the hills).. Some pretty tight corners and in general a nice flow. Very narrow though. It would be a great course to drive a small sports car around.

I might be the problem. The reason I would suspect it being me is because I have had tons of connection issues with Gran Turismo (both GT6 and GTS), but only with specific people. There have been times where if I join first and the other person joins after then things work, but if they're in the room first I can't even connect. It might be the reverse here. I joined the room at Donington after everyone else was in and missed the Camaro races, but the last couple I have been in pretty much right after they open. Also, when you were in the room and shortly before you were getting disconnected I was seeing some glitching on my screen. I'm wondering if me being in the room when you join is causing issues. If Brad or Air are willing to host a practice room we can test it out.

I'm unsure if a single player is the source of the issue, but empirical data trumps speculation.
Aircooled: my 'day job' is maintaining the cable modem control system and email servers for the ISP I use to connect. "Have you turned it off and on again?" is our inside joke / first troubleshooting step for just about anything that goes wrong with customer equipment. It's actually what I did last night after the second disco; the entire chain, including the PS4, got shut off and restarted before the third attempt. Henry the 8th: "Second verse, same as the first..."
There's always the worst option, and one I can attempt if someone wants to set up a room at a particular time: PS4 directly connected to a cable modem, no firewall, no routing, just "Here Ah Iz!" at the internet. You can imagine why that is a Bad Idea.
I don't have the timeline, but I have a nagging suspicion my troubles started after the last PS4 system update.
You'll need to log in to post.
